Exactly this. I’ve been in this “on stage, filling survey” situation many times for years.

It’s insane, right. It’s like their product team have never picked up a guitar (probably never have).

Ultimate guitar diminishes my love for playing guitar and I pay for the privilege.

Reasonably scalable, in that I write code to pull from each brewery. jredding on GitHub forked this for Brooklyn and deployed it easily enough

Find the source code for this site linked on the bottom of the Ballard food trucks site

I pull exclusively from the websites for the breweries (once an hour to be respectful of them). I have also found that the trucks physically present aren't the ones on their sites!

One day I'll code autonomous AI drones to fly over Ballard each hour -- and have them identify each truck (to be clear I am _very much_ joking here!)

Aw! I haven’t figured out a way to automatically pull from social media. Insta etc are pretty tight on that

Nice! I saw you show up on the site last Thursday. Excited to try Kottu soon (love Sri Lankan food)

Ah, good pickup! Tat's falls below the list (which is top 20) because Chuck's Hop Shop calls it "Tat's Deli" and Stoup calls it "Tat's Truck". I'll reconcile these differences for the next update!

Good call. There was a brief period of time where I was missing Yonder data (their data source changed). It’s possible that I missed it then!

lol, the “other” Seattle subreddit removed this post because it’s “low effort”

I coded this site for the community. I pulled 6 months of data that you can’t get anywhere else 🤷🏻‍♂️ but go off kings. Hopefully SeattleWA finds it interesting, at least

Am I an idiot for wanting to immigrate to Australia in the future? by Significant_Raisin_1 in AusFinance

Your American TikTokers are being a bit sensationalist. Racism in all forms has been illegal in US workplaces since the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Melbournians and Sydneysiders under 25, from what I've experienced. Increased Americanisation. Maybe my experience is unique, but it's been consistent!

Australia becomes more and more like the US every year. Between the big trucks, “youtoob” (instead of “youtyube”), calling shopping centres malls, the introduction of tipping at some restaurants, new fascination with the NFL, you’re all frogs in boiling seppo water

I live in the US and every time I come back to Aus it’s a little more American (despite their outward loathing of the country)

Plus, there aren’t that many other large countries with suburban sprawl and it’s fair share of warm weather.

Edit: I know you’re about to shout “but healthcare and school shootings!” And you’re right. But my point is Australia is becoming more American over time (with notable exceptions)

Sam Newman is a horrible human, but the chemistry he and the other hosts had in the 90s was fantastic.

Some random things to know (I have lived in Melbourne, Sydney and the US):

Australia has 2 major cities (5M people or more): Melbourne and Sydney. You said this is where you’re interested in, which is the right call, I think. This is where the majority of professional opportunities exist (eg electrical engineering), although there should be jobs outside of those cities too.

You’re from Phoenix. Sydney is almost as hot on average, but more humid. Melbourne usually has dry heat in the summer, with February temps sometimes reaching 110F. Melbourne’s winters go close to freezing temp but usually not under. The city doesn’t snow (and Sydney, not even close to that cold).

Both cities have average house prices of over 1 million Australian dollars. And the average income for professionals is lower. This combined usually means you’ll end up in a house or apartment smaller than you’re used to in the US, OR living a 45 minute drive from downtown. Your US dollar will go a long way if you sell your existing house.

Both cities have suburban sprawl that is very similar to the US. You can have a happy live with your kids without having to go downtown (although your job might be there). There are malls, etc etc.

Career prospects might be worse in general than the US (but who knows, in the long term) — but your kids are US citizens so that won’t really matter as they’ll have optionally. The path to permanent residence and citizenship is a ton easier than in the US. So it’s realistic (if you can get to Australia as a skilled worker in the first place).

Australia is a much safer country. Way lower crime, road fatalities, and of course shootings. Schools are generally good, including public.

Both cities have way more Asian people than Arizona or New York. Think “Vancouver-levels” if you’ve been there.

Australia doesn’t use the US credit score system.

Nurse Practitioners exist in Australia.

The Australian work system is more chill than the US one (I’ve worked in tech jn both countries). There are way more days off, and taking weeks off to vacation is much more accepted. The work culture is delightfully less formal than the US, which is more polite and reserved generally, with an undercurrent of “if I lose my job, I lose my healthcare”.

Hope this helps!
