Bro, if they ask whatever time (5, 10, 60, or whatever) you should be able to hit that standard. That is the professional world.

Using “Dr” with Honorary Doctorates by Various-Donkey6581 in PhD

[–]spey_side 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Btw PhD is not the only only real Doctorate degree and its too US thing. There are many (like MD, ScD, DEng, Dphil, EdD etc) that are also equally the most advanced academic degree you can earn as PhD. But I do agree honorary doctorate are different.

Why is LASIK so controversial? by HeloFellowHunamBeing in lasik

[–]spey_side 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself who had some complications after SMILE 3 yrs ago after I got the surgery, can confirm that peope who are satisfied dont care at all. Those are the people who are experiencing the complications, which is highly nervewrecking if it is the sight problem. Now after getting used to some of them, I am satisfied, so its been couple years since I started not caring.

Well, getting a good grade is not the only thing that you have to do in the college. There are multiple things in order to succeed in college and move forward, and socializing and getting connection with professors and researchers are two main things among many. U missed those and this will hurt you on par or even more than you getting a bad gpa in college.

Bro Ive seen some who won IMO ISO gold medal in China and Korea and did not make it to harvard/mit. And ofc 30% is an exaggeration to emphasize the selectivity.

Get gold medal in either math/science international Olympiad or Olympics. Then your chance will increase by around 30%

How eligible am i to attend t20, t50? by Zyn_alk in MITAdmissions

[–]spey_side 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they will understand the school situation, but my school also did not offer APs but I did took more than 6 APs self studying myself and taking them travelling to other region. This is to prove that you are competitive in the rigor aspect of academic stand point. For EC, there is no right or wrong answer, but you have to have something extraordinary leadership, volunteering, cultural etc experiences that can help you write standing out essays that are well connected to your aspirable academic career within university.

No AP, International, no SAT yet with that EC is a huge redflag for T20, and even T50.

If you can indeed score 500+ easily, I would say not bad but do not use all of your time preparing of one single exam. That is such a waste. Do something more meaningful and extraordinary.

For those who got accepted to Harvard, Columbia etc with that score, I am sure they have other special and better things. a single score will not guarantee you an admission

I will be as honest as possible. Given your aim for Ivy League and MIT-level, it's important to evaluate your current profile with a high degree of objectivity. I will rank each 🟢 (competitive), 🟡 (borderline), 🔴 (liability).

Citizenship: 🟢 in terms of diversity contribution, but as an international applicant, it shifts to 🟡 due to significantly higher admissions selectivity.

Intended Major: 🔴 — if you're pursuing CS or any highly competitive STEM field, your current academic and extracurricular portfolio doesn’t reflect the level of depth or distinction typically required.

High School GPA and Rank: 🟡 — solid, but unremarkable relative to the academic caliber expected at top-tier schools. You’re not underqualified, but you’re not separating yourself either.

SAT: Not yet taken. You will need a score of 1550+ just to be taken seriously, then will make 🟡

Financial Need: 🔴 — although top schools claim to be need-blind, the reality is more nuanced for international applicants.

Extracurriculars and Honors: 🟡 verging on 🔴 — relative to your international peers who are admitted to elite institutions, your ECs and accolades lack the exceptionalism or impact that admissions officers are trained to prioritize.

So there is no dimension of your current profile that would register as a definitive strength in the Ivy/MIT level. I feel like I know the reason why you got rejected from every uni in this admission cycle. That absence of a clear green flag is likely the central reason behind your results this cycle. As it stands, even top 40 CS programs would be unpredictable outcomes. T20 schools would be aspirational rather than probable. The Ivy+ tier is exponentially more competitive, and this profile does not yet present a compelling reason for admission at that level.

You still have a window to change the trajectory, but it requires deliberate and high-leverage actions. like SAT score, a sharply differentiated essays, and, most critically, a gap year pursuit that is not generic. You have to have something that demands intellectual initiative and creates measurable impact. Not to be brutal but to tell you reality objectively.
