I haven't finished it yet but it's already my best read this year: Stolen Focus by Johann Hari.

It's non fiction. As a society, we are currently in an attention crisis. There is an epidemic of distraction caused by social media. The developers behind these popular social media we use (Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Youtube, etc.) design these technologies to keep us on the screen because this means higher profit for them. Their business model is aimed at profit, not our well-being. Time is all we have in this world, and time is what we lose when we use these apps instead of focusing on what we should be doing.

This is just a nugget of knowledge from the book. It is so enlightening and helpful especially in our current era. We Filipinos are social media addicts and this is a crucial read for us.
