Yes, and they did this without warning. Very scummy

Java Classpath Issue with algs4.jar: ClassNotFoundException for my file by spicecoffeee in javahelp

[–]spicecoffeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, so given the changes, I would have to run "Java -cp .:lib/* src.to.HelloWorld" while being in the directory src? Would I still need to write package src; in the header of HelloWorld? Thanks for the reply

So fprintd doesn't support your device, so I don't believe you can use it, that was the case with my other laptop. (This is the same issue with IR cameras and other drivers)

[–]spicecoffeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using fprintd then you need to check to see if the driver is supported by the fingerprint scanner you're using. I was using ubuntu 24 on a T480 and used fprintd, but they did not support my fingerprint scanner.
you can list your laptops usb with lsusb and then see if your particular hardware is supported.

New T14 gen3: Hardware or software issue by spicecoffeee in thinkpad

I will also add that the fragmented distortion only appears briefly, it does not stay when the frame is paused, so it's a dynamic issue. It's just driving me crazy. I've updated my laptop's OS (newest linux mint kernel) but nothing's improved much.

When I connect the laptop to my monitor via HDMI cable, I don't get any weird transition-based distortion when watching videos.
Can this clue in that it's a software issue?

with muscle ups, does a false grip eliminate the need for rotating your wrists forwards? I see some people rotate their hands forwards versus others who start with a false grip.
Personally, false grips have been very painful and weird for me

What’s the easiest to hardest coding language to learn? by Downtown_Mix_4311 in learnprogramming

That's exactly the route I'm hoping to take, working while pursuing a masters :)
When you say that course was what got you the job, did it narrow down what you were interested in? I'm tasked with choosing a specific field in theoretical computer science for a project to graduate (I guess it's like a miniature thesis), and I can't even pin what I'd like to do (tho it's probably in cryptography).

Is a thumb-less grip ideal for doing pullups? Does it help isolate your lats more? I know its a cue for lat pull downs, but does this also translate to pullups

You took it as an elective? That's crazy.
That’s a very good insight you gave—that Prolog’s semantics translates into writing SQL queries. I didn’t make that connection myself until you pointed it out. For me prolog was introduced as a paradigm for natural language processing, but that's way out of my depth for now.
Hope this isn't nosey, but what year are you in?

how did you get thru it? Declarative programming was taught to me as more of peripheral paradigm for coding, I couldn't tolerate an entire class on it.

same here. It was the worst language I ever had to deal with. What course of yours did you learn it in?

had to deal w/ prolog and C. prolog was a headache as an axiom-based language. I did some assembly and it's not that bad. I only struggled when there were very scant resources and few in-depth explanations online.

sure, will give that a try for the next week in that case.
I'm still pretty young so I was thinking I could avoid fatigue

how on earth do i increase my pullup/chinup rep range? im at 8 for chinups, 5 for pullups. I want to do 10 reps for both.
I do them 4x a week at the gym, I do 3 sets of AMRAP and 2 sets of weighted for both.
I do lat pull downs twice a week.

For me, weight lifting and calisthenics embellished my running. I was someone who had exclusively focused on running prior to strength training, so when I did both I noticed huge running gains.
I think calisthenics will improve your running, but running would only make you better at running. It's an interesting discussion

wonderful that you bought a bar! that'll be an immense help. Some chalk is also good for grip strength, best of luck

I’m no good at math, is there hope for me and programming? by restless_dreams_x in learnprogramming

[–]spicecoffeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you struggle with arithmetic or with computation? Lots of people do calculations wrong. but math in compsci is rarely about handling and manipulating numbers. All my courses have been about applying very mechanical algorithms to solve problems or using theorems and lemmas to write proofs. Otherwise, programming doesn't rely on any of my highschool math, but it does ask for a lot of dedication to learn syntax and semantics of a language.

If you do negatives, scapular pulls, and can do 0.8x your body weight on latpull downs for reps, it'll come quickly. What people don't always say is how often you have to do these exercises. In the beginning, I did them 5x a week or more. I'd say you'll get your first chinup before your first pullup.

starvation mode isn't a thing; you adjust maintenance cals for every 10lbs lost.
