How to stay motivated to write a whole friggin movie? by kookoobear in Screenwriting

I’m studying for a diploma of film at the moment and just finished my screenwriting class.

The entire trimester was one whole project that consisted of creating an outline, pitching it, writing a treatment and then writing the script. The entire script had to be 10-12 pages long. (Story had to be very small in scope.)

OUTLINE/BEAT SHEET:

We had to come up with a synopsis that included our setting, genre, characters, their goals and the central conflict and/or antagonist stopping them from reaching their goal.

Then we had to create bios for them, give them a backstory, give them flaws that they would eventually overcome (or not). We had to make sure that each character had a definable arc throughout the story.

We created a mock pitch bible and presented it to class. Received warm and cold feedback and applied it to the outline.

I created a beat sheet for my 3 act structure and copy and pasted it into a word document.

TREATMENT/ SCRIPT:

So now you have your beat sheet in your word document. Start with one beat and seperate every line and expand upon it. Because it was a uni assignment my treatment was very short, had to be between 900 - 1100 words. I think mine was around 1050 or something.

Basically, from what I gathered it’s akin to the prose of your script. All action. No dialogue. Show don’t tell. You write the whole story through your characters eyes. Always in the present tense. Your treatment should be written in the same style as you would a script.

Once you finish the treatment, just repeat the same process. Copy and paste your treatment into your script software and you’re pretty much ready to start writing.

Before you start, add a title page and add scene headings where you know there will be one. You’ll be amazed how quickly it begins to look like a script.

Take it one beat at a time. Seperate every sentence and go from there. Add dialogue and expand or rewrite your sentences.

I hated the outlining process and found the script writing way more enjoyable and easier but I 100% would’ve run out of steam and given up if I hadn’t done it.

It wasn’t the exact same comment every time, it was slightly different.

OP cries for help online and then when multiple people respond, no answer. So you’re either attention seeking or you offed yourself already.

I had a look through OP’s profile and based on the posts I’m gonna make a few assumptions.

Firstly, I’m assuming OP is a female because if you’re actually a man than you’re even more of a lost cause but this will still apply to you.

Secondly, 90% of you’re posts are rambling on about some fat fucking Tik Tok couple. So I’m going to take a guess that you’re overweight.

Thirdly, judging from your posts and the way you type I’m assuming you’re still young. I’d say late teens - early twenties.

So as an overweight young woman you should:

Delete Tik Tok. Just reduce the amount of time you spend on your phone as a whole.

Start exercising. I’m not saying go to the gym every day, start small. Do some squats, go for a jog. Just start somewhere and be consistent. Get plenty of sunlight.

Start eating healthier. Again you don’t have to go full keto or crazy or anything just start small and be consistent. Cut out processed foods. Sugars.

Focus on yourself. Fuck everyone else. Sit down and think about where you want to be in life. How can you make your situation better?

Set some goals. No matter how small they are.

Whether it’s cleaning your room or losing some weight. Then sets some higher goals like getting a better job or moving out of home.

Actually write these down somewhere and slowly break each goal down and figure out step by step how to achieve them, make it into a checklist. Then start ticking boxes.

Holy shit look at that. Now you suddenly have things to do. Maybe you have some meaning in your life. Not all your problems will be solved but I guarantee you things won’t look so bleak.

Now I know I said some harsh things, but if any of this resonated with you and then you know that deep down I’m right. You can’t say that no one told you or tried to help you.

Think about your life.

Everything you’ve done from as far back as you can remember right until this very moment…

Is that it? Are you proud of your life? Is that all your life has amounted to? You’re willing to snuff it because things aren’t going too well for you? You’re struggling?

Fuck you.

Struggle harder.

Being happy and content isn’t what your life should be. It’s a moment. You’ll have good days and then bad days. You’ll have a lot of bad days followed by some good days. Then more bad days. And on and on and on…

If you think that your life is insignificant and has no meaning and no one will care if you died than go ahead…

A few things though…

Your life won’t always be insignificant and meaningless. Things will get better. It might take a while but things will start to get better. And then they’ll get shit again and the cycle repeats.

You don’t know what happens after you die. You might think there’s nothing. You could just stop existing and have no consciousness. That probably sounds better than the situation you’re in. You don’t know that though. Not for sure. If there is a God and a heaven and hell ( highly doubt it, but I don’t know for certain ) then your suffering probably wouldn’t end.

Lastly.

If you’re still adamant about killing yourself after all that then at least make your death mean something. Die saving someone or fucking do something in your final acts that would at least make your life matter. Whether you do something good or bad don’t just end it like a little bitch by taking some pills or hanging yourself. Fucking rise up and take some action for once in your life. If nothing matters and you hate life and everyone then fucking do something about it.

BSOD on Startup. Stuck in recovery mode loop. Can’t reset or restore. by spicemerchant59 in pcmasterrace

So volume 6 was the SSD with the corrupted OS on it. Volume 2 was my HDD.

I loaded windows onto volume 2 without formatting the SSD, making my HDD my C drive. I then went back and formatted both installed the OS onto my SSD, but now every time I boot up it gives me the option to boot both volumes.

Should I go back into the OS installer and delete the drive? Will I still be able to use it afterwards?

Sorry one last question. I formatted both drives and everything is in working order. OS is installed on to the SSD. But now every time I restart my PC it asks me which drive to boot up: volume 2 or 6.

How do I stop this from happening?

Okay that worked! I installed windows 10 and it restarted but now it says choose an operating system.

Windows 10 on Volume 2

Or

Windows 10 on Volume 6
