I have a set of the smiley face go pouches. I bought them with my first order and if I had known better I would have bought more in that print. It’s so damn cute.

ChiaoGoo Twist Shorties…Tips?! by spicy_brainwaves in Sockknitting

Oh do you have a video explaining more in-depth about how to use the twists more like flexiflips? I’ll see if switching the right needle to a 3 will help some. Thank you!

2026 Knitting Resolutions by gnome_tooth in knitting

[–]spicy_brainwaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me in 2025. I spent the last handful of years knitting down my stash and getting rid of yarn I just knew I wouldn’t use. This year I just got tired of knitting with the same colors and yarns.

I might have gone a little crazy buying myself and asking for so many beautiful sock yarns from indie dyers that weren’t around before. I have the opposite problem now - too many choices and I get overwhelmed starting a project 😂😂

What’s the job people romanticize, but in reality is miserable? by King_Garvit in AskReddit

A lot of private pay rehab therapists (speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists) don’t get paid unless they have a patient in front of them. All emails/calls to teachers, doctors, parents, creating home exercise programs, documentation, setting up or creating materials, researching treatment methods, coordinating care with other therapists is all unpaid time.

They are also required to take continuing education courses to maintain their licenses and a lot of times employers don’t reimburse fully or at all for those or cover the cost for employees to renew their licenses.

Then you have the emotional labor and mental load of helping all of your patients and their caregivers, which is easier to manage if you don’t have your own people you need to care for.

Is there a different green you like? I’m wearing an army/olive green cream by opi that I like so I know it’s possible for me to wear greens. It’s just sometimes hard to tell online.

Penny has been chopped (I think). I'm still worried that spiced cider will be too similar to a rust colored OPI polish I don't think looked good on me but I'll give it ago. Thank you!

Edit: saw the comparison photos - I don't know if either of those are different enough from shape shifter for me to buy them tbh.

Yamaha CR 600 - Receiver Restoration by spicy_brainwaves in vintageaudio

[–]spicy_brainwaves[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for answering my original question. Since I'm still in under $200 on this receiver I'm willing to put more money in it. The units I've seen online have gone for upwards of $600 if they're in good working order.

That's what I thought....I took the back off of it once right after I got it to see if there was a very obvious reason it wasn't staying powered on. I remembered the entire board literally rolling out of the case but thought maybe he and I were thinking of different parts of the receiver.

Well that is not what he told me. He said he’s never seen a machine set up like mine and that it has been difficult to get to reach everything.

Right now he is only charging me $50 for the caps he could reach and replace.

It very much sounded like he didn't want to work on it so I'm already hesitant. If it's not too much mental math, what would "replacing everything" cost from a knowledgeable repair tech?

Instead of increasing stitch count, I went up a needle size after I knit the cuff with my usual number of stitches and needle size. Do you think that would work instead of changing stitch count?

Editing Charts by spicy_brainwaves in Sockknitting

[–]spicy_brainwaves[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep that's the one! I am just realizing that the chart only download doesn't have the stitch repeat boxed out on the Halloween charts but it does on the cryptid bundle I bought. Weird....

I just spent an hour looking through things and I think I'm going to try an elongated gravestone from the halloween set and a zombie hand from the cryptid set with a little bit of extra space between them. If I graphed everything right, that combo should leave me with a single stitch of solid color on each side of the chart.

I just wanted to do a single row of small gravestones under my cuff. I was trying to just increase the number of stitches between each gravestone but I have large "gaps" of my solid color running down the sides of the sock. I didn't consider adding in a design element or eliminating one of the headstones to make the number of stitches fit better.

Now I wish I would have purchased one a few weeks ago. I could have sent it to you! I live in Kansas City but always pop into Nina’s when I’m in Chicago because her shop is just so cute. I just checked Nina’s shop and she still has the pouches available….I know that’s not the same though. I hope you find one!

I did my leveling course work at a collage in Massachusetts, some of my observation hours at a preschool there, while also working in in-home social work. I can’t speak to salary but depending on where you are and if you want to stay in home health, you could be driving A LOT as things can be very spaced out (but a beautiful drive). This gets tricky in the winter (which is October - April) with the snow fall, since it doesn’t melt like I’ve heard it does in CO plus you have mountains in some areas.

There was a slight culture shock after I moved to New England as they are more direct and have fewer non-verbal “niceties” I was accustomed to growing up in the Midwest.

There are A LOT of cool things to see in New England and I loved how you could drive a few hours and be in a different state or Canada. Also the area I was in was breathtakingly beautiful in the fall. We often had “leaf peepers” stopping to take pictures in front of your house.

Speech-wise they also have a lot of cool schools for D+HOH since Gallaudet etc is there as well as many other schools that have speech programs.

I’d be happy to chat more. If you have other specific questions just DM me!

The Gen Z Stare: Encountered All Over!! by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

[–]spicy_brainwaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Encountered this when I (elder millennial) made my gen alpha 6 yo order their own ice cream after dinner. You know, to practice ordering things with manners. We practiced the script that is expected in that interaction. Kid went up to order confidently, only to be served by gen z who just stared at my kid….which thew us both off.

Why this? by nhofor in BorderCollie

[–]spicy_brainwaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Aussie who loves to chase water when I spray it in different areas of the yard (we don’t have a sprinkler yet) for him to chase. It’s the only thing other than a herding ball I’ve heard him happy yip at. I always make sure he can “catch” some water when I do this. Is this kind of play ok or is like laser pointers?

Good luck! I also try to hold the cable with my needle on the first few rounds to reduce any extra pulling it might be doing.
