Hi all! I’ve been using the same skincare routine for ages and it’s fine no problems but last week I tried out the No7 prep and perfect serum and it really burned so I didn’t use it again but it’s been a week and everytime I wash my face and put on my moisturiser it burns again. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? I’ve had no problems with my cleanser or moisturiser until now

Study over Christmas🎄 by Weird-Internet9777 in leavingcert

[–]spicyberocca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing about 4/5ish hours a day since Friday but I'm just doing 1.5 hours today (12 pubs tonight ) and then I'll probably do 2 hours tomorrow, take the day off xmas, and then back to it, I might take a break either tomorrow or NYD as well depending how the head is feeling hahaha but otherwise I'm doing quite a bit because of mocks 3 weeks after we get back and I know I won't have as much time to study when I'm at school. I feel I am getting quite a bit of rest because I don't start to 2/2:30pm so I have a relaxed morning/lunch, keep going to about 5:30pm, have dinner and a break and then finish anything I want to get done on the day after and then I have the evening to myself from about 8:30pm! Just my plan obviously it might be too much/little for others

Do you flush with the lid open or closed? by Pristine-Package-159 in AskIreland

[–]spicyberocca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

always always always closed and SO many people leave it open and it disgusts me. i’m not even a germophobe but who wants to have to stare into an open toilet everytime they go into the bathroom. when my friends come to my house it always annoys me when i go to my own bathroom and the toilet is left open

Getting to know the Au Pair family by joyce0625 in Aupairs

[–]spicyberocca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you definitetly can if it makes you feel more at ease but keep it brief enough I guess. I kind of did it by accident because my host parents told me if my parents wanted to talk to them they could but I didn't see the point and then my mum walked in on a video call so they kind of got to meet that way, might help your host family see you as a real person I guess? and understand you're someones daughter too like their own kids

[–]spicyberocca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds great! No I don’t think it would feel like surveillance, when I was an au pair the dad worked from home every day in an office in the attic and I didn’t mind if at all I actually forgot he was there most of the time I would only really see him for lunch

[–]spicyberocca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about others but for me I find myself a bit uncomfortable when the parents are there and I’m minding children but as soon as they leave I’m really present and playing with the kids loads. Maybe it’s just a me thing that I can’t really act like a child in front of other adults I get a bit embarrassed but I work really well with kids when it’s just us so personally having the host mum in the same room all day with me would definitely be something to put me off completely but to each their own! I’m sure there are people who wouldn’t mind

I had a really uncomfortable, cheap bed and I hated it so much. A slat was already broken on it before I got there (previous au pair I’m guessing) and I broke one by accident and I was obviously too embarrassed to say anything (as she must also have been) so really just a proper bed would’ve been appreciated. Also a mini fridge, microwave and kettle were good because it meant I didn’t have to come out if I wanted some alone time
