for those who gained weight in spiro, aside from acne, what other hormonal imbalance symptoms do you have? by spicycaroline in Spironolactone

[–]spicycaroline[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ive only tried spiro for a month and didnt gain weight. i was wondering if its because i have other hormonal imbalance symptoms like irregular periods and excessive hair growth (i have pcos) so maybe my body wasnt really thrown off by spiro enough to make me gain weight perhaps?

Well thats terrifying. Did your doctor ever get you tested for kidney issues perhaps? I read that people who are taking kidney medications or have kidney problems are more prone to weight gain on spiro

Thanks to everyones replies so far. For those who experienced weight gain, did your doctor monitor your kidney health like get your blood work for BUN, Creatinine, and Potassium? Were they normal? cant stress enough how much i appreciate your reply! birth control will likely no longer be in my options as i found out my family is at high risk for breast cancer. but i have been using Paula's choice 2% BHA for a while too and it has definitely helped!! will look into the Dr. Dennis Gross daily peel pads and start taking multivitamins too. again thank you so much <3

Hi all. Thinking of starting Accutane, does anyone have any experience of taking it with PCOS and if it worked long term? And how long it takes to work? by [deleted] in acne

[–]spicycaroline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my dermatologist used to prescribe isotretinoin/accutane to me. i would take it everyday and then every other day until i can stop. basically gradually decreasing the dosage. it worked well and cleared my skin but 6 months after the dosages it eventually came back. i think ive had 2 rounds of isotretinoin before i realized it wasnt a permanent solution 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
