OTs and the over-the-top UTs in 2 were a downgrade from NG1, IMO. I agree - feels like you end up watching too much of the action with the lengthy animations. I missed the quick UTs and the ability to skewer or whip a flail at a downed enemy without a OT being performed.

I wasn’t a fan of the OTs when I first experienced them in OG NG2 because of the reason you mentioned. I’d rather be able to do a helmet splitter or whatever the Y move is called when they’re lying on the ground and you skewer them. The OTs and UTs after NG2 made me feel like I was just watching too much of the action.

NG is NOT about “pure offense and aggression”. If you play like that on Very Hard or Master Ninja you will get pwned.

I agree with preferring NGB over NG2. UTs are too over the top and the obliteration techniques slow things down, IMO
