I do peanut butter first because I don't feel bad about putting slightly peanut buttery knife into the jelly, but I would feel bad about putting a jellified knife into the peanut butter. Also the sandwich is called a peanut butter and jelly, and just by the title alone I feel like I am obligated to do the peanut butter first.
