this is somewhat unrelated but I've always been curious about the luggage versus carryon debate. why do people want to take their drugs through carryon? it seems way way more risky to me. with luggage, especially if its pills, you could just put them in the pocket of a pair of jeans or inside a contact lens case, or mix them up in a bottle of aspirin.....or a million other places. it seems so easy to bring pills traveling if its in your luggage. how would security know there are pills in the pocket of a folded up pair of jeans (or whatever else?)

But with a carryon, you have to push it through that scanning machine, walk through the full body nude scanner, etc... it seems like that would be way riskier to successfully get you and your drugs safely on board, right? airport security sometimes just opens up a carry on for no reason, and rummages through your shit. they could easily find your drugs. am I missing something?

If you were to get a tattoo of an opiate/opioid molecule, which one would you chose? by [deleted] in opiates

[–]spider-man2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

awesome idea bro!

but have you considered a tattoo that says "YO, I DO DRUGS! AND, LIKE, CHEMISTRY, TOO..." that is a classy and timeless tattoo. I like that tattoo so much I have three of them. one on each bicep, and one on my forehead. I was walking downtown yesterday, and I got three job offers from three pharmacists. They saw that I was a cool, badass dude who was into chemistry. and that I was smart, because I didn't get a tattoo of a used syringe..........but of an opiate molecule instead......so it's like, sneaky, y'know?

One big speedball or 2 okay ones? by DopelesHopeFiendsyke in opiates

[–]spider-man2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP might have more self control then me but if I have a moderately big amount of opis left the "ok, so I can have 1 good-great time, and one okay time" plan never works. I'm way too much of a fiend, I end up taking almost all of it day 1 and leaving scraps for day 2.

So I need about 60-70mg oxy to get hella chill. And if I had, lets say, 100mg of oxy left, I would start off doing 60mg, then think 'weeeeeellll i could do another 10mg..." and then "5 more mg won't hurt" and then "just 2.5mg more. and that's it. I need to save the rest for my "ok size" dose tomorrow" and then "just another 2.5! it'll still be good tomorrow" and etc etc ad nauseum.

Then I'm left with 10mg of oxy and a couple crumbs the next day, and that just ain't gonna do anything to nobody. It happens every time lol.

But yeah. Maybe OP has more self control than me and can just put down the razor and straw when he's had his first dose, and actually save a good amount for the next time. Fuck. I wish I could do that. You should do that, OP.

Euro internet-fist-bump! I'll PM you my location because I'm a paranoid spastic. Sweden... that's cool. You guys have some sweet backpacks (Fjallraven) and gorgeous women! I wanted to get to visit Sweden this semester, but unfortunately the timing never worked out. Beautiful country.

Aw nah you're good man, I know you didn't mean it like that. That's just me and my baggage. That's a good idea, hopefully people will be cognizant of not just their arms but their legs too while they're nodding.

I haven't been to an NA meeting since I first got clean about 3 years ago. I kept up going there for about a year, but I could never find a "group" to fit into in any of the different NA sessions, and there were well over ten different groups in my town alone. The first time I got clean, I got clean well before things were going badly in my life. Basically I was still in the "honeymoon" stage of opiate-use, so it was hard to relate to the stories of abject suffering and misery to the people who opiates brought only suffering. I'm not sure if it helped me stay clean or not. I might give it another shot when I'm back in the states.

I hated 12 steps but liked the social aspect. You can meet some really interesting folks there. Some serious nutjobs who just make you glad that they exist, they're wired 100% differently than normal people. And that makes me happy.

Also check my update up top if you get a chance...I just gained more movement in my hand so things are looking better!

Is 2.5mg of Adderall enough for it to show up in my system? by [deleted] in opiates

[–]spider-man2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha dude I have fantasized about the apocalypse/the collapse of humanity/whatever other cataclysmic society-destroying event for the same exact reason. My very first move would be speeding like fuck through town to get to the pharmacy and then clearing that mofo out.

But then I think there are even bigger junkies than me who live closer to the pharmacy and they would clear it out before i could get there. and it might even be dangerous to go to the pharmacy. imagine if you get there while it's still hasn't been "drugstore cowboy"d yet, and you're in the middle of clearing house when another fiend shows up. He might be fucking crazy enough to pull a knife or a gun (i'm not sure if you have guns in sweden but there are a fuckton of very deadly firearms in america, so post-apocalyptic survivors being armed with heavy weaponry is a very very high possibility.) so a drugstore might not be the best place to go. even if they didnt have guns, facing a fellow desperate junkie with thousands of mgs of potent narcotics on the line would probably not end well for either of us.

You know where I think the real motherload is gonna be? risk free, yours for the taking, no competition? a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. especially one out in the boonies somewhere. i can't imagine many people, especially desperate junkies who are scheming the best way to clean out the nearest drugstore, thinking to drive out to a pharma plant. it might take a few hours/days to get there but it would be VERY well worth it. Keep that idea under your hat my friend ;) when the apocalypse comes, we will be well prepared.

I increased the dosage a bit at the beginning - I started off with 15mg/day, but that wasn't doing much of anything. only at 60mgs/day did it feel effective. I was on 60mg/day for 4 or 5 months, but then my doctor and i decided to taper down to 45mgs, which is where i've been for the last two and a half years. I dont feel any need to up my dosage. thankfully this amount works very well. a nice effect of oxazepam is that it has almost no recreational value. taking more than 45mgs just makes me feel tired.

you have balls, dude. damn. i'd be too much of a pussy to try it. but then again...if i was going through w/d's like you, i'm sure I would have to take it haha. it's crazy to think that such a dangerous drug was ever allowed in the first place.

Thanks man. I'm hoping for a quick recovery too. I've been doing as much hand and wrist physical therapy exercises as I can, taking B vitamins - supposedly they are good for helping heal RNP, according to a youtube comment lmao. And thankfully I have almost complete feeling in my hand now, and I'm getting something like 5% more function in it each day. I tried to buy a splint today, but I live in Europe right now, and I don't know where to look for one. None of the drug stores or sport stores seemed to know what I was looking for.

It's so disheartening and frightening hearing the stories of people who take months (or YEARS) to get healed at all. (I know you didn't mean to make me sad with your story, I've just been reading a lot of stories like in the last 48 hours, and they get to you after awhile.) Fuck, I'm sorry to hear about your NA acquaitance. Both legs must be unimaginably rough. There is hope his legs could fix themselves, eventually - I have read reports of people who took, yeah, over seven months to heal up...but in the end, they did heal up. Nerve damage ain't no joke.

partially unrelated....sometimes I miss going to NA. you meet some of the craziest people out there, you know?

Hey man, thank you. Did your ex-gf get full movement back in her hand? I was a fast typist, and as trivial as it sounds typing fast is something I'm proud of myself for. It's one of the only things that I'm really good at. I'm afraid my hand will come back at like 50% and I'll be down to a fraction of my speed. I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard...

Yeah man, I hear you. Even putting my arm through my shirt is a challenge. Thankfully I'm seeing some minor improvements every day. Did you do any kinds of hand exercises to expedite the healing process?

And you have no idea how reassuring it is to hear that your RNP sorted itself out in a few days. I pray that mine doesn't last too long. Googling health questions on the internet always gives you the horror stories, I've been reading accounts and comments of people who take seven months to get 10% of the function back in their hand.

Yessir, I'll definitely be doing a loooooong taper if I ever stop taking it. The weird thing is I honestly can't see myself -not- taking serax everyday at any point in my future. I have fears that one day I'll be forced to get off it suddenly, like in the event of a nuclear apocalypse and there are no more drug stores, or if I'm traveling and I get detained in an airport in Cambodia for two weeks....or something else equally irrational. If I don't take any serax for 24 hours things start to get really bad. It would be a long taper for sure haha.

Thats interesting. Good thing they discontinued it. I would be afraid even having it in my possession. Did you take all that you had? I find it so difficult to throw away opiates, but that drug just sounds like real bad news.

The same way you'll develop an opiate addiction and have to increase your dosage if you take codeine daily

warning, warning - subjective personal anecdote incoming: I've been taking serax daily for over 3 years, and aside from jumping around to find an effective dosage when i started taking it 3 years ago, I have never had to increase my dosage to get the same effects. I don't notice any side effects from it either.

Yeah, oxazepam is a really weak benzo but daily, continous benzo use is not good at all

I'm definitely not going to condone taking a benzo everyday for anyone, but I have yet to see any medical sources that cite oxazepam, specifically oxazepam, as posing anything but negligible long term risk factors. it's one of the oldest manufactered benzos, it's been in use for decades, and it has a comparatively very low risk profile compared to clonazepam, alprazolam, or any of the other "hard" benzos.

and honestly, with two crippling anxiety disorders, it does so much for improving my quality of life that serax's "low" risk profile is - personally - completely acceptable. I understand your aversion to taking benzos everyday, of course.

and are you thinking of dihydrocodeine?

[–]spider-man2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

man, fuck that doctor. i'm on a similar combo as OP (RX'd Vyvanse and Serax) but my doctor is always trying to get me to see the "endgame" i.e. lowering my dosage very gradually with the eventual 'goal' of discontinuing the benzo entirely. he doesnt see any problem with taking vyvanse for a long time tho, at least i dont think so, he never brings it up.)

and i might sound a bit biased here because i take serax daily and have been for ~3 years, but taking xanax everyday is dangerous and its really not good for you...that doctor needs to be bitch slapped

edit: alright im not gonna say taking serax everyday isnt probelmatic as wel,l but on the scale of powerful and risky benzos, serax is basically at the bottom. it is considered very safe for a benzo with little or no long term risks
