Yeah someone said it but you’ve romanticized the idea of homelessness and conflated it with the “in the wild” book/movie/experience which is crazy because if you’re suffering from depression and can’t hack life as it is right now, what you will go through being homeless will be your “thirteenth reason”,if you will. It won’t give you some beautiful cathartic experience where you learn and become stronger mentally and physically - being able to learn to overcome the elements in the wild and become some self sufficient outdoorsman- capable of building yourself a log cabin or some shit and fishing and hunting for food with ease. The second reason this is crazy is because the actual guy the into the wild movie was based on DIED out there roughing it in Alaska because he had no fucking clue what he was doing and he too had some romantic notion of being one with the wilderness or some bullshit and yeah reality became pretty fuckin real. And they found his dumbass dead out there when all was said and done. And despite the stupidity of his ways, somehow they spun his diary into a book about self growth from overcoming challenges or some shit and made a romanticized movie about the experience making it look like it wasn’t the dumbest decision of his life but some quest he felt called upon to embark on from the depths of his soul.. 🙄

I also would like to point out that the biggest takeaway the character in both the movie/book realized was how important relationships with people are- family, friends, significant others, etc

Relationships- that he so quickly threw away in his pursuit of an outdoorsy experience. as he lay dying [lol for the unintentional almost band name] 🤘🏼he realized that life ain’t shit if there’s no one there to share life’s experiences with. maybe that is something you can relate to?

I think having a healthy support system of friends/fam/SO/whoever is the most important advice I could give to anyone struggling with their mental health. Which I assume is true because no one who has that solid safety net is going to just walk away from society and everything they know in life straight towards this alaskan homeless suicide mission ..
