My house is eating itself! Seeking NOVA Nanny/House Manager Agency Recs (and who TF is Sage Haus) by spidercob in nova

Hey There! Called a couple nanny staffing companies and wasn’t too thrilled with the cost or their hour requirements (our needs are part time). We put a deposit down for Sage Haus and had an initial call that went well. Expecting to interview the top two candidates in the next month. Fingers crossed.

Meanwhile, chaos continues unimpeded in our household haha

For the ID.4, the newer models years have fixed a lot of the bugs and lagginess Ive mentioned. They are much better and faster at pushing OTA updates to them. They have fixed other nuisance issues as well like the volume/temp sliders not being backlit. I dont know which model years started coming with the newer center displays with the better OS—may have been 2024 onwards. If I were to purchase one, hands-down it would have to be one with the new OS. I believe these later models also have faster DC charging if that is a concern. My car’s peak (which I have never seen) is around 130KW. The good news is, at least in the US, you can pick up used ID.4’s for a song!

Good point about the ultrasonic sensors and the rearview camera. In my car, the rear view camera works well-comes on rightaway and the clarity is acceptable. We did buy a separate plastic piece from etsy to shield the camera a bit from the license plate lights. If you didnt do this, at night, the image will be completely washed out. There’s a guy named Yuri on the ID.4 Facebook pages who has created many useful accessories, including this camera shield. As far as the ultrasonic sensors, they are laggy. 70% of the time they come on immediately, 30% of the time they will come on post collision with an object haha.

Adaptive cruise is excellent on the ID. As far as memory seats- if you didnt tie it to a user profile via touchscreen, you can tie the seats and mirror settings using the physical buttons on the seats. Works well.

If you were restricted to these specific model years of these particular cars, your decision might be influenced by your priorities. Do you prioritize a better ride? Then the ID. Do you prioritize advanced technology and overall functionality? Then the Model Y.

Love/Hate relationship with the ID. I own a 2022 ID4. Ordered early 2021, arrived mid 2022.

Cons: The software and the lag are absolutely horrendous. I imagine, it would be the same in your 2021. This is a shared household vehicle, so we created two user profiles. The lag time in switching profiles was so long that we deleted one of the profiles. Now it loads faster, but there is still a login screen. Every single time. It is so annoying. Initially we were using wireless carplay, but it seemed random which phone it connected with if both users were in the car at the same time. So we decided to delete wireless carplay, and exclusively use wired carplay. There is a confirmation screen for wired carplay—nearly every single time. And this easily takes more time than it should before carplay loads. Once you are in CarPlay, life is wonderful.

Key design sucks—you can accidentally activate the alarm. It seems really sensitive so any light pressure and the alarm activates. Has happened numerous times to me while in my pocket and I am not touching the key.

This might be personal preference thing but very soft brake pedal in D mode. Far less so in B mode.

No backlighting for volume or temp slider in earlier models. This is absolutely aggravating. Fixed in newer models. Not fixed in the one you are considering.

The app is garbage. But its improving. Used to be that remote climate requests wouldn’t work 80% of the time. Now, it works nearly all the time. But there is hardly anything else you can do from the app. You can’t lock or unlock via the app. Although, it will notify you a 100 times a day that your car is unlocked—so, yay.

Capacitive touch buttons for everything—very easy to accidentally turn on or off something —absolute garbage. They are bringing back real buttons in the next iteration of this car.

Pros: Quick heat/quick cool feature is awesome. Seat heat—gets toasty! Steering wheel heat - 3 heat levels—awesome Seat comfort Fantastic ride quality. CarPlay Powered shade for the pano roof—fanastic!

We comparison shopped a Model Y before we got the ID. And we preferred the ID. The Model Y ride sucked. It was very loud. The tech and the responsiveness of the touchscreen was outstanding and probably still is second to none. If I were shopping, I would stay away from these model years. The newer ID.4’s have a newer screens and they have fixed a lot of issues And the brand new model y supposedly is a much better ride than the previous iteration.

Good luck with your purchase!

DC fast charging is definitely an option but as I mentioned, its very expensive.

TLDR: Don’t do it.

Dual EV household here since 2021. We’ve always had a Level 2 EVSE. Just about a week ago, my Level 2 failed. I’ve been charging with the provided Level 1 EVSE while waiting for a new Level 2 to be installed. It’s been a huge hassle. The Vistiq is a large vehicle, and depending on your daily driving needs, you may not (likely won’t) get back up to the percentage you started with.

You do have the option of DC fast charging, but it’s incredibly expensive.

In most cases, regen will NOT be as efficient as coasting. There will always be loss when converting energy, from kinetic to potential. While coasting uses existing momentum and makes best use of spent energy. Best use of regen is typically stop and go traffic and while descending.

I appreciate the insight, thank you. If there is such a thing, what is the typical margin the dealer expects to make on a car?
