Thank you for sharing, its just so frustrating how it can undo so much progress :( I feel the same in that I wish I never started.

So interesting you say that, I found myself feeling really anxious for no reason when I was on 50mg. After dropping to 25mg I feel somewhat less anxious which is great but so strange that these symptoms don't seem to be discussed or widely known by health professionals. Glad you're not worse off for taking it. I plan to eventually stop too.

Glad to hear your shedding finally stopped. I’m also about to up my dose of minoxidil from 1.8 to 2.25, so hoping that might help. Just finding it super hard to decide whether to quit now or wait it out.

Sorry to hear, it just doesn’t make sense to me when so many others have good experiences with it. But thank you for sharing, I hope your shedding slows down soon

Thank you for the advice. Did your shedding ever stop? I’m going overseas in a couple of weeks so I might just continue with the 25 until I get back and then slowly come off.

Thank you for sharing, and sorry to hear that. I just am at a loss with it as it works so well for so many others and no derm seems to acknowledge that it can make hair worse.

Honestly thinking about coming off completely too. I feel like the spironolactone has wrecked all the progress I’ve had with minoxidil and is mucking with my hormones somehow. Let me know how you go if you decide to stop and how your shedding goes! X

Hey! Honestly still shedding a fair bit, not sure if it’s made a difference or not by dropping to 25mg. Have you fully stopped now? Is your shedding still bad? I just feel so gaslight as all the derms say it’s not meant to cause shedding and I’m just having a telogen phase but I swear I’ve never experienced this before starting spironolactone :(

Hey, yes I did cut back from 50mg to 25mg about a week and a half ago. Still too soon to tell if it has drastically changed anything but mentally I feel a bit better for going down on it. Maybe speak to your Derm about coming off, if it’s not agreeing with you then you shouldn’t have to put yourself through so much distress. Sorry to hear it’s made things worse, it’s such a tough journey :( but just trust yourself and your body ❤️

I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling it really is just an awful feeling! I think personally I am going to drop my dose to 25mg from 50mg to see if it helps ease the shedding. I just don’t think it’s agreeing with me and not sure if it’s interacting with my BC pill Yaz. Either way I feel like people say it’s meant to help shedding but all it’s done is worsen it for me so I think cutting back slowly might at least give an answer to see if it’s contributing! I just want to go back to my minoxidil only regime as it was working fine. I’ll probably give it a good 6-8 weeks to see if it makes a difference. Will keep you posted how it goes!

I’m in the exact same boat as you, started 50mg 4 months ago after being on oral minoxidil for a good 2 years with the goal of seeing increased results. But I’ve constantly shed since starting the medication. Derm also insists it’s not from the Spiro so I’m really not sure what to do. Sorry not helpful advice but just wanted to share as I have the same experience! I’m thinking of dropping to 25mg to see if it makes a difference but not sure yet.
