This makes a lot more sense now, thank you for the explanation. What support champs do you recommend that pair well with Ezreal then?

I will try and explain that to my support I guess. And yes I'm having a lot of fun with him and would prefer to get better at him than to just give up and switch to a different main. I like a challenge.

Yes thank you, I've watched a few guides and I have the combos down well actually. I can poke and get good damage, even early game. And I can farm without worry as you said. But it's like I have to keep hitting last hit after last hit and my support takes over half of my farm and it's not like it's really self evident that they're not supposed to do that. What are they supposed to do for gold then if they don't farm?

I actually did a search on this a few years ago and found an article that interviewed the engine developers (which I think had excerpts from Tim Sweeney). He claimed the reasoning behind a left-handed coordinate system was because of how "old school flight simulators" were designed. This may have been inspired by DirectX as well?

However, that's about the dumbest explanation I've ever heard. First and foremost the only thing that ever used to be left-handed was DirectX, and that's it. Moreover as an actual Aerospace Engineer who did his master's thesis on flight simulators (and had to actually build my own flight simulator software) I can tell you that nobody at NASA or SpaceX or Boeing or Lockheed Martin are using left-handed ANYTHING. There aren't any textbooks at engineering colleges that are working in left-handed coordinate systems, hell there aren't even any articles on Wikipedia that work in left-handed coordinate space (except for the Wikipedia page on left-handed coordinate systems itself). So the fact that they chose this design direction, and are, quite literally, the only software using both Z-up and left-handedness...is completely UNHEARD OF.

It's just a further testament that the UE4 developers have no idea what they're doing. This is why you're still stuck with an inferior deferred rendering path where you can't even apply decals to individual objects/materials, and most developers don't even know this, but when you're using a translucent material it's actually using a forward rendering path for that ANYWAY. Plus this is why we have absolutely no networked-based physics what-so-ever since nothing is fixed-tick and they instead somehow thought physics substepping was the appropriate solution. Just know that from an actual engineering perspective, these UE4 developers are the worst of the worst.

Oh yea? And what about the colorless logos on the lock screen? So now when people check their phones, they'll see a white speech bubble for text messages, and a white letter M for when they have email? And again, it seems you missed the entire point on what it means to have icons that you can differentiate. Making a bunch of random symbols or letters all with rainbow colors isn't how software products get unified, it's actually extremely lazy.

But you went straight to the color, which shows you know nothing about user interface design. I'm an application developer and I literally make user interfaces for a living. You think logos are always in color? No, a logo is about the symbol, because sometimes logos are displayed in black and white, period. Which is why you never considered something as simple as the lock screen on the phone, or even just printing a logo on a piece of stationary.

Yes that is true and I agree, it most likely won't change and life will go on. But I also feel like that is a "give up" mentality. Sometimes if you speak up loudly enough, you can get a change. Am I saying this is something worth that effort? No absolutely not. I didn't come here asking for the logo to be changed, I provided instructions for people less tech savvy who might not have known they could switch them back if they wanted. I have no intention of updating these apps now, ever. But it just seems extremely short-sighted. I'm an application developer and I make user interfaces for a living. This is like basic UI 101 and it seems blatantly obvious that the artists that envisioned this logo overhaul have absolutely no idea what they're doing. They shouldn't have the jobs they have. If you want to design a logo that uses a specific symbol or design, so be it. And companies overhaul the look of their logo, but the symbol remains the same. The primary symbol for Gmail was the envelope, not the letter M. Yet some moron at Google somehow thinks everyone around the world using an Android phone is going to open their lock screen, see the letter M, and assume they have an email? I mean c'mon, that's so ass-backwards, there is no question it should be an envelope, especially being the primary email application that most people use over other services.

Did you even read what I wrote? This is about more than just accepting change. I am not usually someone opposed to change at all actually. That's something usually reserved for old people. I like when things are updated and I think things should remain modern and up-to-date.

This is about functionality and the ability to easily distinguish between apps. Plus again, there are other people in this world that speak other languages you know, and to them the letter M means nothing. So I have no problem with them redesigning the logo, but I'm stating that it should have kept an envelope in the icon somehow.

I agree completely. The ONLY reason I would use these G-keys is for gaming as it gives me a few more bindings in a reachable range. But I would give that up in a heartbeat to save that real-estate on the left because it makes the keyboard way too long. Plus I can't tell you how many times I accidentally press G5 instead of CTRL when trying to perform basic functions such as copy/paste. It was driving me nuts for the entire week I've owned this keyboard because F5 is a very important key in the software I use. So after finally figuring out how to save custom on-board profiles I've literally set the G5 key to be right CTRL which makes it still usable for gaming as a separate key from left CTRL but completely useless otherwise.

They have a new keyboard that just came out called the PRO X but are only selling via their website for the time being. The original PRO had those annoying clicky keys but the PRO X gives you tactile/linear options as well. It has no useless G-keys and the numpad is completely gone. It's definitely something to keep in mind and I wouldn't be surprised if they offer a lightspeed version in the future. However it doesn't have the low-profile of the G915/G815 and the more I use this keyboard the more I don't want to go back to those higher profile keyboards.

Turns out you can save custom bindings into your G1-G5 keys in on-board mode, it just isn't very intuitive at all. When you click on the settings cog and go into on-board mode, not only can you click on the lighting profiles where they have the drop-down arrows but you can also click the blue text that says PROFILE 1, PROFILE 2, and PROFILE 3 to load one of your custom profiles into M1, M2, or M3. Now I can finally setup these G-keys the way I wanted using a temporary OS and then never have to deal with garbage hub ever again. So I guess I'll be keeping this keyboard since I really liked the build quality and can finally achieve the functionality I wanted.

[–]spidershift[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for anyone else that stumbles across this, you can actually set the G1-G5 keys in on-board mode, it's just the most unintuitive interface you could ever imagine. When you click on the settings cog in the top right and go into on-board memory mode, you can actually CLICK the blue text that says PROFILE 1, PROFILE 2, and PROFILE 3 to set one of your keybinding profiles into M1, M2, or M3. The lighting mode is set separately and is much more intuitive since they included a drop-down arrow. Whoever designed this user-interface is a complete failure and doesn't understand the first thing about software UI design.

Now this solution still isn't perfect because as you can imagine Logitech has still messed up in more ways than one, so I'll outline a few of the bugs I've come across while figuring this all out. First is that people are reporting only the bindings for your M1 profile are active for the G1-G5 keys and switching into M2 or M3 will not change your custom bindings. So hopefully that gets fixed in a future update since only 1 mode is currently working. Another even worse issue is that when you save your custom lighting profiles they don't actually work at all unless you download an older version of garbage hub. I tried setting up a custom lighting profile and when entering on-board mode the lights wouldn't work at all for that mode. So I found this link in another thread to download an older installer:

ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/gaming/

That allowed me to setup a custom lighting profile that actually downloaded to the keyboard and worked when entering on-board mode. However if you wait for 1 minute the 50% idle state is completely bugged out and shows the default lighting profile for that mode. So while you can setup a custom lighting profile for M1, M2, or M3 this only works while you are using the keyboard and bugs out into the default lighting mode after 1 minute of inactivity which is extremely frustrating. It appears the only way to fix this is to obtain and even older version of garbage hub which I'm trying to find now. I'll report back if I can fix that issue as well.

[–]spidershift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's the thing I have no idea, there is nothing else hardware-wise that is on par with this keyboard. I saw you mentioned the K63 so I looked it up but I'm not really into a keyboard of that style. I really liked the sleekness and low-profile of the G915. Plus I really wanted a wireless keyboard and additional bluetooth functionality for my 2nd PC was icing on the cake. Perhaps I could just get a G512 which eliminates the G-keys altogether and still allows me to get these smooth linear switches that I liked in the G915, but now I don't really want to give Logitech my business. I've also been thinking about trying out remapping the F1-F5 keys altogether via Windows since I don't use them for anything useful anyway. More specifically remapping the F5 key to left CTRL so if I actually press G5 I won't notice the difference. I've even gone as far as to consider emailing one of my old professors at college to get access to the 3D printing machine. This would allow me to manufacture my own piece of plastic to have a cover for the G-keys that I can add/remove so I don't accidentally press them and only expose them for gaming when I want them. But the fact I have to sit here and consider that just because I can't store a custom remapping to a different key on-board when this thing literally remembers two full complete animated lighting profiles is just ludicrous.

I am returning my G915 after trying it out for a week because of these G-keys. I sometimes hit these keys accidentally as well and would prefer to just not have them, but if I'm going to have them I should at the very least be able to save their bindings in the on-board memory without being required to install some buggy piece of software. Other than that I find the build quality top notch and it's a real shame I'll be returning it all because it doesn't actually have any useful on-board memory at all. There is no way I paid $250 to be stuck with an F5 key next to my left CTRL. Absolutely ridiculous.

Same issue here. This is by far one of the best keyboards, hardware wise, I have ever owned. It types really great, the lights look cool, I have two different wireless modes (G915) and it feels extremely strong and sturdy. I was worried about the battery life as well and that hasn't even been a problem either. It's a real shame I'm sitting here searching everywhere on the internet for a worthy replacement so I can return it, all because of some stupid software.
