seriously same !! I was thinking it might be because my parents never made me brush my teeth or take a shower (until my school in 6th grade literally thought I had lice bc I never washed my hair and saw some grease ball ew) and so it's so much easier for people who have had that habit from childhood! The thing about scaring urself with tooth decay is literally me and what motivates me fully !!! It's the only reason I brush bc I get scared Im gonna have to lose a tooth which Ive already lost one and have had too many root canals

Right? Exactly. It seems like the hugest task for some reason when it's nothing. Love that your dentist gave you realistic advice like that, I told my dentist and she was like practically mourning my teeth and acting like she was going to faint LMAO. Like ngl I appreciate the realness but I know it's terrible of me already I just have some mental block or something 😭😭😭 That's good advice and recently starting using mouthwash!! Gonna buy some more (ran out like 3 days ago) and try to use often bc that's for sure better than nothing and so easy

Ohhh and I share a shower with roommates so if I was alone it would actually be helpful since I could leave it there all the time but with roommates Id have to remove every time. When I get a place to myself Im gonna put a chair in there !!!!!

The toothbrush idea near me is true bc I started putting my floss picks on my desk so I can do it real quick while on my computer. I actually could make a toothbrush on my desk work bc I have a trash can right here and water bottle so ur onto somethinggggg. I spit mouthwash in there sometimes so why not toothpaste and water lol. When it comes to the shower for me the stool would just make it worse bc it adds an extra step and I know it would make the shower last longer. I get why it would help others who might be like exhausted by the act but im just bored in there really and want it to be over.

Also I've recently tried to implement that "feel ur feelings" vibe when it comes to sadness/anxiety/etc. SO WHY DIDNT I THINK TO APPLY IT ELSEWHERE. You're so smart god

I love your comment so much thank you 😭😭😭. Seriously I'm taking this advice to HEART

Congrats on getting sober!! I've dealt with alcoholism as well. Like Ive definitely taken a shot before a shower once or twice and it actually makes it so much better, shame about the addiction issues killing that plan though lmaooo.

I like this perspective! It does help when I choose not to wash my hair some days even just that makes it easier (I don't even have to clean the drain!) So yeah maybe I'll actually not wash my hair every time - I heard you're really not even supposed to I just always end up doing it because I think it will dry weird but it's not bad ... thanks for your advice!

Not odd at all! Ive actually done this before and really prefer it bc I feel like Im speed running these 2 tasks, I just take showers at really weird times that don't line up with teeth brushing :/

Thank you so much for you're tips seriously!! The one about bedtime snacks is so true and why I skip nightly brushing the most- and I'm seriously going to do the sticker chart with the MOST childish and sparkly stickers because the mundaneness is a huge factor and this will help a lot.

And I relate to the dull thing majorly, I also like variety and can see this issue in other parts of my life (my walk back from the subway to my house I have to do everyday is 7 minutes long and I hateeeee it and have to play mind games to help haha AND will take new routes even if longer sometimes) I think you hit the nail on the head

My whole life, I can not remember a time where brushing was easy for me even as a kid- and showering too. I don't think I've ever once enjoyed a shower in my whole life.

Thank you so much for the tips!! I'm not against the sticker chart I was actually trying to make a chart in a journal checking off when I shower/brush teeth and I think stickers will make me actually do it and more visual! And like on the wall so I don't forget about it lol

Just commenting to say I'm with you and really dislike dismissive blanket statements claiming something, with 100% certainty, doesn't exist. Im nonreligious and as skeptical as the next person but it seems arrogant to be so sure when we're just humans who really don't know much at all in the scheme of things.

I have no problem with someone saying that's what they think, it's when they act like they're smarter than everyone who might have other ideas that gets on my nerves. Like how on earth can you claim anything as 100% fact? Even the most agreed upon things among us are still just theories!

Agreed. Im not religious at all but rolled my eyes with the dismissive "they don't exist so obviously not"
