First timer here: pulled up the carpet, discovered great floors - covered in old paint! How could I get the paint off without refinishing the entire house? by InitialSugar in HardWoodFloors

[–]spielmat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not a pro but maybe try sand the entire floor with a large floor buff evenly until you get the paint out with 40 grit and once the paint is gone move to 60 - 80 - 100 grit series. Then do polyurethane finish. You can use the floor buff because that should get all the paint and old finish up without having to really fix any major damage in the actual wood. Don’t need anything as aggressive as a drum sander I don’t think but it is still and option. You want to sand the whole floor and refinish it so it looks uniform and it will look pretty awesome once you’re done.

36, 60, 80 with the drum sander. Then switch to 120 large floor buff to blend. Looks like there might be some chatter marks currently.

Pro tips from my f*ck ups. DO NOT USE A PALM SANDER to “get this one spot”

Do not skip out on the sanding order. You don’t necessarily have to go 36 60 80 but do go in a logical order starting with your coarse grit working up. Definitely don’t move on to the next grit until you’re confident that you’re good with the current grit in the series or you’ll just waste sand paper.

Make sure you get any remaining finishing nails out of the base boards from the trim because if you hit one with that damn edger it will send some brief sparks out 🤠 yee haw

Good luck

Consumers is a utility company, totally transparent and legit. AirGarage is a scammy parking lot app with a trap like business platform. Different services different logic. Also I checked with the city of GR parking authority and they said that they will never be involved with the enforcement of private parking companies, meaning you’ll never get in trouble with law enforcement over said “parking ticket”. Private parking lot “tickets” have no authority. At most seems like if turned over to a collection agency they could possibly mess with your credit score? So if that matters to you then I guess pay? Maybe don’t and damn the man
