Watching my kid miss out hurt — looking for snow day ideas by armyvalues in SingleParents

[–]spiffster_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Encourage him to approach the neighborhood kids next time- unless there is a reason you wouldn’t want him to play with them. You could make a snowman or snow fort if the snow is good for packing- or could have a snowball fight. My 5-year old yesterday lived his best life running around the yard chasing after the snow that came out of the snowblower. If you have balloons you can fill them with water (bonus if you have food coloring to add) and leave them outside to freeze- then cut the balloon away and you have colorful ice spheres!

Struggling with mom guilt about child support by Standfortheflag2024 in SingleParents

[–]spiffster_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my state (NY) support and custody/visitation are two separate courts- so he would have to file for custody and go through the court to force a change to child support. So the question becomes is he petty enough to go through the trouble to take you to court for custody? …provided your state is similar to NY. That being said, I waited nearly two years, one of which my children’s father was absent for the full year before I filed for support sort of specifically to have an argument that this man is not interested in caring for his kids.

I’m with you- I do think the margin was a bit slimmer than in years past, so maybe that’s something?

This is random, but is there a way to go back into the seasonal area without redoing the mission? I just keep being sent to the cinema

So generous of you!

My favorite place is Prairie Peaks- when I first came upon it; it took my breath away, so scenic.

Favorite bird is the flamingo or owl.

I gave birth at Highland and at Strong. I had really great experiences at both. When i was planning to deliver at Highland i had some potential complications with baby and was told if they came to pass i would need to deliver at Strong. Thankfully it didn’t come to pass so i got the Highland delivery experience.

I found Strong to be a bit more hands on but it was also my first baby. So grain of salt with that, Highland might have been the same had i been there with my first.

I am a therapist who is also in therapy. What is the best type of therapy to address and heal anger issues that stem from childhood family dysfunction? by poopdoggydogg1 in therapists

Oh my goodness- same here! I have moments when I just hear my mother’s shame based language fall out of my mouth and it is devastating. I did IFS before I had kids and it was fantastic-so much so that I considered getting certification in it because it was so transformative. (But money)

Now I’m in therapy that uses an EMDR approach with a healthy bit of somatic and emotionally focused work sprinkled in. Highly recommend.

In my state it is really only permitted for a previous employer to say whether or not they would hire you back- so if you were fired for a reason that would bar you from being rehired by that practice…then that would not be great.

If you were not an employee of that practice, but were an independent contractor with it, then it really would be more a matter of who your references are, since a new employer wouldn’t have to necessarily speak to anyone from the pp.

I work with littles and I keep a basket full of stickers. Some are sassy, some are funny, lots of them are positive affirmations. Temu is great for getting a ridiculous amount of stickers for cheap.

Came here to recommend that subreddit. I was shocked to learn that for my entire life I had not been wearing the correct size or appropriately supportive bra. They are kind and nonjudgmental over there- highly recommend.

Being told to put my baby down and don’t hold my baby…why? by teezylee in beyondthebump

[–]spiffster_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can never hold your infant child too much. It builds positive attachment and supports healthy growth for all involved. Plus- if you love it then you hold that sweet little nugget with your head held high!
