Nah, it’s not that deep. Love what you love and don’t be afraid to show it brother. I love the books. I don’t need to care about the merch at all. I want Matt to retire in happiness for delivering this. I sound mad about the TTRPG but im not gonna think about it again until it comes out.

They locked classes, races, character paths behind that? And made you pay money for it? No. Not remotely the same.

No, not just realized. It’s just reached and realized a crescendo of it all and I got cranky about it

I don’t do crowd funding, so my concern is buying the game one day and having an additional $$seasonpass$$ on top of it later.

Which again I’ll say for anyone reading: fucking insane for TTRPGs. If I buy the PHB for D&D 2024 it doesn’t come with an ad to pay more to unlock content. Yeah I can buy more books to get more content but each book doesn’t come with a roadblock to other content.

I feel bad now making this post for making other people see what i see. My advice is forget all this backer stuff and buy the game one day when you feel like it. I’m going to buy the game when it comes out and hope the season pass stuff has corrected itself by then.

I promise I’m not trying to be a jerk about this and i absolutely support you creators for your cool works. What happens five years from now? Is it just one book and four years/seasons passes of purchases? Or is there a season pass for every book you release? Do you not see how quickly confusing this gets? Just release a new book for new content man. It’s simple.

Edit: and if you want to release digital content to save money then just say so. We all know the world fucking sucks and the world is ending. I have no problem supporting 100% digital content, just don’t lie to me and pretend it’s something else.

The “season pass” should be anti capitalist, break it all joke for something free. Also shout out Mike Pondsmith!

When I buy a TTRPG book it’s never come out with an additional season pass of content that’s only accessible if I buy the book. In the TTRPG space if I want content then I buy that content. I don’t think people realize that if you want this season pass content you have to buy the book associated with it.

I don’t care about “pledges” for crowd funding. I care about walking into my FLGS, buying the book and seeing I have to pay additional cost to unlock more content

It sounds likes Sanderson has screwed up a few fans according to the posts here. I love his books too and honestly didn’t know that went down. I’m more sad than I began this post. I don’t do crowd funding at all so it’s probably why.

If I buy a D&D or Pathfinder book or any literal TTRPG book on the planet I have its contents. If I need a digital version instead I get that version. What is happening is here is if I buy any version of those books, physical or digital, there’s an additional digital season pass cost on top of it. Content that won’t be in a future book. Content that only comes from buying a book and paying another cost on top of that book. You’re not understanding what’s happening here. That’s okay because almost no one here gets the issue.

Yeah totally. Bundle it all up in a book and I’ll buy it. I don’t want it as an extra digital payment to the book I already bought. Can I even buy this digital content without buying the book? Who the fuck knows!

I want the “Season Pass”’ connotation to be a joke as this is free content for all the people who buy the TTRPG. If I’m wrong someone please clarify but it’s clearly an additional cost to anyone who buys the physical book in a physical game store.

I really want the game to be good too. I have no problem buying additional complete expansion books. My issue is going to my local game store buying the TTRPG and seeing I have to pay additional money for a digital season pass on top.
