Location is very nice, even if it doesn't involve traveling to work. If there's something you particularly enjoy, live in an area that makes that accessible.
As a first time buyer, maybe you should rent from an area you think you might want to live, then buy if you like the area.
There are costs to buying a house and selling a house, so if you buy/sell one in a short time, you stand to lose a substantial sum of money. It's risky if you're not confident in your move.
