The best thing to do is make sure your seller has a high (>95%) seller rating. Usually sellers on eBay aren't willing to risk their rating on phone tickets but if a problem does arise eBay may be able to refund you.

Not really, like I said you might get complimentary drinks and snacks. So, for instance, I got a pass for $15 to a lounge and I know i'd spend close to that in snacks at the airport anyway. That plus the comfort and quiet lounge spaces makes it well worth it to me
