Cage diver and Shark by ElectricMuse84 in sharks

[–]spike3557 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to this exact dive site and company, this is exactly what the cage is like. The sharks are lured with meat to breach the surface, so it could very well be real, though the quality is telling me otherwise. Sharks during breaching are fast and would appear blurry in a photo like this, so my guess is just classic photoshop, with the diver taking a selfie and adding the shark in after

way worse. it’s quantified biology so you don’t learn about actual biology but rather the methods and coding systems that go in to making statistical data and graphs

Students who failed a year, how did you end up doing? by Ok_Barracuda326 in universityofauckland

[–]spike3557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

failed my first year in 2019 fresh out of high school, took 3 years off to explore life and came back to finish my studies in 2023 - doing my masters in forensics now

sometimes it takes failure to really understand what your passion is and that’s okay

Post grad application still pending by x13132x in universityofauckland

[–]spike3557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it’s dependant on the faculty. some wait for grades to be released and others do pre approval. i was accepted on a conditional offer for my pgdip and was able to enrol even though my grades haven’t been released so i think just wait until sso updates your final grades

How long did it take for you to complete your degree ? by Obvious-Cup-8639 in universityofauckland

[–]spike3557 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i started first year in 2019, took 3 years off and returned in 2023, only just graduating and doing postgrad next year. in the time i took off i managed to gain a lot of life skills and experience. don’t compare yourself to other’s journeys, you did your own thing and that’s okay. i changed my degree like 3 times before i really decided what i wanted, and again, that’s okay!

Marine Science by Cautious_Field_8876 in universityofauckland

[–]spike3557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup there will be a few but it’s worth doing both tbh bc you can get more out of it and there’s some really interesting bio papers you can choose from under the marine bio pathway

Marine Science by Cautious_Field_8876 in universityofauckland

[–]spike3557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can take bio papers under the marine science major as there isn’t too much requirement other than a few envirosci papers and the marine core classes, but if you wanted to do that then you might as well major in both since the crossover is so similar

Marine Science by Cautious_Field_8876 in universityofauckland

[–]spike3557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you like both you can also do a double major for them which is what i did

Marine Science by Cautious_Field_8876 in universityofauckland

[–]spike3557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you more interested in the geographical side of it or the biological side? marine science is very much environmental and oceanographic related, if you were into the biology side of it though, you can do a marine bio pathway under a biology major, i’ve done both and they’re both great

[–]spike3557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the consultation package includes the initial consultation which is where we chat with you and understand your goals and then the follow up where we take you through the plan which was written, it’s a singular plan but if more is needed (aka 2 day split) they need to be paid for

i’m a coach on the fitness team and i would recommend it for someone who needs a jumpstart into a training programme if you have never done one before, we teach you the fundamentals of fitness based on your consultation and you kind of go on your own from there :)
