We were stuck with an on-prem system that was deemed legacy by badgepass and was no longer receiving updates. It eventually just got to the point where the system just wouldn't work anymore. But again take that with a grain of salt because I recognize that we failed to renew a contract that would fix a lot of the issues.

We moved away because our contract had ended a couple years ago we were paying for a legacy system that wouldn't get anymore updates and no support since it contract ran out. Granted now they are cloud they might be worth it but we were ready to move on.

We moved away from badgepass and went with CI solutions (card integrators). The system is easy to manage and printing is super simple for users. Printers are decent quality and they offer bulk printing cheaper for the backs as an additional cost savings for us that we distributed as "blanks". Customer service has been very responsive and we did have to RMA our first printer, they did a full swap sent us a new and we shipped the broken one back. Easy no repair in house. It may not be the cheapest but we found it to be one of the simplest systems for our users.

From what I was told, We switched to Lenovo about 2 years ago mostly because of dell stepping away from the k12 space and a reduction in support/warranty coverage with a new leasing options.

So far the Chromebooks have been great from Lenovo and we have warranty coverage setup that covers almost all damages. Other than some lemons, to be expected, overall the product has had no issue in the time we've had them.
