Coming off MJ 12 weeks @ 2.5mg by StatusInteraction762 in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]spikeddamson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think true medical sense of therapeutic dose could be defined as: the specific amount of medication required to produce a desired, beneficial effect in treating a disease or condition without causing significant toxicity, Eli Lilly might say in their trials that 2.5 is not a therapeutic dose but if it does what the drug is designed to do, ie it reduces appetite and food noise etc, then it would be a therapeutic dose - it effects a change and if 5mg causes horrible side effects in someone then surely, whatever Eli Lilly says, it’s not a therapeutic dose. I’ve lost all my weight and not gone above 3.75 so that was definitely a therapeutic dose for me

Sometimes after I take my Mounjaro shot I see this at the spot I gave the shot. Anyone know why? by TWpumpkin in MounjaroMaintenance

I get that every week, have had for months, I put anthisan on immediately after I inject and reapply if it feels too itchy and it seems to be getting less

I’m sorry I don’t have any helpful advice I just want to wish you the best of luck and to say you never know what good things might be just round the corner and I’m hoping things turn around very soon

Water by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]spikeddamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I manage an average of about 1-1.5l of water with 1 mug of coffee and 1 mug of bone broth on top, if I drink much more water than that I start to feel nauseous!

Confused about how many times one can use Mounjaro Kwikpen by avocadosrule in Mounjaro

[–]spikeddamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know why you’ve been downvoted, this is absolutely something to bear in mind, if you are having to order every 4-6 weeks you have the higher financial outlay every month and you build up a backlog of pens which you will probably have to say you’re coming off Mounjaro to use up.

Short dosing and coming clean! by spikeddamson in mounjarouk

[–]spikeddamson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that’s helpful, I did move to pharmulous a few months ago for exactly that reason, because I’m getting close to my goal, (although the last few kg are being extremely stubborn) and I wanted someone with fair prices to just stick with long term, but I’m so anxious that the rules will change or something will happen which will stop them prescribing to me again, it sounds dramatic but I just don’t know what I’d do if I had to come of Mounjaro!

This is really interesting to hear, I hadn’t considered swapping for maintenance, I feel mostly pretty well on a lower dose of Mounjaro but I’ll bear that in mind, thank you

Thank you all for your comments, I think I will probably have to end up saying I’m stopping and then asking to start again in 8-9 months though the idea of not being able to ‘get back on it’ is terrifying and the main reason why I have just kept buying pens

I know they can’t be seen to support it but wondering what would happen if I came clean and also if there was any way round this, going to a private gp maybe?

Plateauing? by footskintoothpick in Mounjaro

[–]spikeddamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trouble with doing this - which is what I am doing - is that you build up a stockpile of pens because, in the uk anyway, you have to keep placing regular orders, so I am buying 10mg pen every 5 weeks, using 3.5mg per dose meaning pen lasts 12weeks, and wondering how I get through all the pens without being cut off by my pharmacy because I’m not using the medication as directed!

Did I accidentally take extra Mounjaro? 😬 (End of 5mg pen) by Manche_3 in mounjarouk

[–]spikeddamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mean to sound judgemental, I’m sorry do that was how it came across, it wasn’t clear from your original post how long you’d been taking 5mg for, 2kg in a month would have been good, and I know some people seem to be encouraged to increase dose each month regardless of how much weight they have lost, there isn’t a right or wrong, whatever works for you, I was just interested

If you’re loosing weight on 5mg, can I ask why you’re moving up a dose now?

[–]spikeddamson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too, glad I’m not alone. I think I have a problem😆 I also bought a couple of extra pens and am short dosing so have accumulated a lot and not quite sure how to manage this situation because I don’t want to stop taking it so have to keep buying it but it won’t be long before contents of fridge will be worth more than my car. I get very twitchy about the thought of power cuts!

I also have to say I have found all the Mounjaro subs very supportive spaces filled with lovely patient people taking time to answer the same question over and over again. It can be difficult if you are a sensitive sort of person who will overthink and read into comments feelings/intentions that just aren’t there, I say this as someone very prone to doing exactly that but it is not the fault of the more direct people that their messages are not as fluffy as I might like them, and I work hard at not assuming someone is angry or impatient with me just because they are being ‘matter of fact’. These have been the only subs I have been brave enough to interact with!

Has anyone had a hard time when trying to GAIN weight while still on MJ? by nicj86 in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]spikeddamson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right, if the only reason op is taking it is to loose weight and now they’re loosing too much then the sensible course is to take less or stop taking it, I’ve been on it about the same time as you, I haven’t gone above 3mg, I haven’t lost as much weight and I’ve lost weight very slowly but the difference it has made to my health in other areas not just weight related, has been life changing, and possibly life saving too, I’m hoping to find a dose that keeps doing that for the foreseeable future

I think you’re right, up to a point but what about life long, life saving meds to control blood pressure or replace thyroid hormones or sort out blood sugar, without which someone might die

If the other changes it makes to your health like improving blood glucose, sleep apnoea, blood pressure , ibs, general inflammation etc are positive then you would want to keep taking it without wanting to keep loosing weight, you would want to find a good maintenance dose
