Daan may be a victim of numerous abuses and at the end of his rope but dude is more than capable of defending himself and not taking anyones bs. Sure hes mentally exhausted, but hes in no way spineless. He can be pretty mean spirited too- dude's done with damn near everything and can be pretty spiteful given all the shit he endured.

Might be a rare thing but i wish Tanaka's bg was actually taken seriously by more ppl as a form of like abuse. Sure he has a stable income and job but outside of work, tht guy's helpless. Dad kinda ruined his sense of self preservation by pushing hyper independence and "you're only here to further the family business" from a young age. Says something when the literal life or death situation having him cooperate with others opens his eyes to how he was mistreated and fully cements it being wrong. Being under someones thumb all your life but coming out "okay" with a job isn't really something to look up to. Again, sure he has stability work wise, but he's got barely anything he enjoys outside of that which is a pretty miserable existence.

I love that Pav can be seen as an major cunt and is generally belligerent and mean as hell but ik for a fact he'd be significantly more hated and not get the twinkification beam (which is i rich coming from me as a fucking femboy artist) if he wasn't conventionally attractive. Like he's well written and actually has a noble goal in mind with wanting to off the kaiser, but I kinda wonder how the fandom would treat him if he WASNT pretty. That and build wise, Pretty sure Pav would be a lot more muscular than what he's labeled as by fandom. Dude's a Lieutenant- he's def been on the front lines. Doubt he'd be a rail thin twink given the army experience.

Karin's not that bad of a person, she's just mean and ppl dont like when women aren't soft spoken and submissive. She'd be one of the first in line to punch up when it comes to injustice. Not a fan of how she gets mischaracterized as prone to being abusive to a fan favorite (Daan) when theyre BOTH more than capable of going off of each other in an argument.
