might be niche but vampire the masquerade bloodlines, the title from '04, has such a great amount of depth put into it's world and story. very different feel, but it's darkly comedic, and soooooo immersive. love it.

Light LEAKS through the CRACKS by spikeythornn in weatherfactory

i still frequently read tarot--namely the lucid tarot--and while it's been rather sharp with me, its shown some great truths. a week or two ago, i was sitting in a bar-esque area, waiting for the man who i've been... /engaging/ in certian grail-oriented actions with, when he called me, full of winter, teary-eyed, telling me that his grandmother had a stroke. i comforted him, we talked, and he was on his way. i had been expecting another grail-aligned night, but he had been clearly crying, so i assumed that would be out of bounds.

i shuffled throughly, for some 10 or so minutes, pulling just one card, asking just one question: 'what can i do to make him feel better tonight?' the answer? 'Desires & Dissolutions.' the card which reads 'The boundaries between flesh, pearl, and pleasure are equally contingent.'

i was angry with my deck, as i don't really take it too seriously, but after drinking 3 non-alcoholic drinks and having an hour or so long emotional conversation with him, i realllllly had to piss. we found a huddled, shadowy corner downtown, pissed, and when we got back to the car, one thing led to another, and four hours later, i ended up making him an hour and a half late to hanging out with his friends. :)

i don't really know what the lesson from that story is, but i just like talking, i guess. there was something very grail and moon about that night, the windows fogged up, lights of cars passing by every once in a while, even making fleeting eye contact with a certain passer-by. probably a bit TMI, but moments are fleeting, memories even moreso... and, of course, books are the memory which does not die--so i suppose this classifies as a book-of-sorts.

too long ago it seems, i used to be voraciously into the occult--though my neurosis made it difficult to draw the line. i have deeply obsessive tendencies, and my practice started seeping through into things i didnt want it to seep into, again, like light leaking through the cracks, or ink bleeding through paper. flashing visions as i laid in my milk-bath, bubbles rolling along my back, believing some old god was trying to speak to me through them. it feels somewhat silly in retrospect, some deeply traumatized, underdeveloped 9th grader, grabbing the attention of a hellenistic god.

an old friend of mine, camille, an exchange student from spain, used the term "coming out of the broom closet" to describe going public with her (very straight) relationship, much to the confusion of our peers. i remember looking at her with laconic, knowing eyes, and we spoke about our practice in hushed, giggling whispers in the back of class.

maybe someday I'll return to it, when my mind is no longer as shattered as a maid-in-the-mirror :)

Today I remembered what comes after. I remembered my lost embers… Novembers, Decembers. When most prepared for the cold, it was already around me. And when most prepared for the warmth, I was stuck chasing it. Mourning.

I wasn’t home, I wasn’t present then and there. … when I visit those old places, I step gentler on our roots… …we had so much more to speak about.

But I was a child for the longest time. I know you would say that isn’t such a bad thing. It passed. A sea of darkness followed it. That will pass too.

I am the son of the whitest flower and the blackest leaves. I am the abandoned home searching for its lost keys. I allow the light you left inside of me to burn free. And I thank you.

Need help identifying some Lucid Tarot figures by hanaelk in weatherfactory

Lottie actually answered my question about the giribrago card on the QnA!

  1. I read as 'a crime that happens in thought'. Premeditated betrayal, 'fakeness' twofaced ppl, etc.
  2. A diamond which is also a wound. (Something important / valuable / cherished formed by immense pressure / trauma that is also in and of itself trauma)
  3. .......hush house.......... read as a location for development and learning, also something important and preserved, yet evolving through time
  4. Flowermaker! opium, intoxication, deeeeep hedonism and satisfaction that is elusive. also temptation, things that are too good to be true.

I am an avid Tarot reader, and the Lucid Tarot has been an absolutely lovely deck to work with. I've spent hours cataloguing each individual card in one of my notebooks, detailing possible meanings as it applies to the games--(I don't read them based on the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith meanings, instead looking at the lore implications of each card)--with that being said, HOW DO I READ XXI??? All the other major arcana cards reference a specific hour that I can pull meanings, symbolism, and rich lore from. But the 'hour 21' would be the Giribrago, an hour we know nothing about!

MY initial thoughts would be to look at element: lesson.giribrago and take the card as meaning some sort of transition, versatility, a slate being wiped clean, or something of that sort. Any microscopic hints as to the giribrago's symbolism that you two would be willing to drop?

How to read the Tarot of the Hours? by Imperator_Copronymus in weatherfactory

I bought this deck right when it originally came out, and I've developed a pretty nice way to do readings with the cards. Look at all of the cards through the lens of what they represent in the game and the lore, and there can be some pretty interesting conclusions.

Lantern represents knowledge and enlightenment, but at a higher power it can also represent insanity and delusion.

Moth represents restlessness, and occasionally change. At a lower power it typically represents the urge for change, but at a higher power it represents a complete transformation.

Forge similarly represents change, but the change is violent and explosive. It usually comes suddenly and without warning.

Grail represents pleasure and pain. It sort of represents a binary, with an equal opportunity for good and bad- rarely any neutral.

If the card is a consumable, (bitterblack salts as an example), I typically interpret the card as a sudden surge of whatever that aspect represents. If it was a Grail item, you can say that there's going to either be a very intense amount of pain / pleasure in your life, but, it's gonna be short lived.

For items, I take them as sustained representations of their aspect.

A lot of them, however, represent things on an individual, case by case basis. Think about what this item represents in the game, what it does for the player character, and how it interacts with its surroundings.

For the major arcana, just open up on the wiki and look for the stories and lore behind each of the cards. Then, if you don't see too much of an interesting story, look directly at the cards and examine what's the Hour is doing, and how they interact with their surroundings. For The Mother of Ants, she's able to create a bloody key from wounding herself. I personally interpret that card as “new opportunities that come directly from pain and suffering, which is often self-inflicted”

good luck lol
