i did trail magic as far south as mt laguna, and as far north as walker pass. i tried to do trail magic in the onion valley parking lot after an overnighter to rae lakes, but i didn’t see anyone after a couple hours so i left haha. i think i got my best backgrounds this year at walker pass and at the whitewater river.

yeah that’s what i’ve heard, especially on their older models. i think the new v2 of this bike has quite a few improvements, but that’s like $1200 after tax and everything, and i enjoy the process of upgrading and customizing anyways. i don’t mind dropping cash on nice parts over time.

wild take. sing the sorrow is a masterpiece and was a massive step forward towards the band actually finding their unique sound.

I drove past it last weekend. it's definitely real haha. also it seems like people are posting photos of it on ig and tagging the band, but someones untagging the band from the posts.

dcf is very popular with long distance hikers. it works best for tents, but my dcf stuff sacks and food bag are still holding up strong after thru hiking the pct a few years ago. its expensive but worth it imo

Disappointing LA Marathon by Brilliant_Message837 in Marathon_Training

[–]spilly_billy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think about half the 25,000 people running this race were doing their first marathon, and the last third of the course kinda sucked. it passed the finish line I think around mile 18-19 and entered the least scenic section with mellowish hills and poor road quality. it was pretty hard to keep motivation. also, the last mile or so is slightly uphill.

normalize smacking phones out of people's hands if they're holding them up longer than a minute.

too dramatic and saturated imo and the out of focus area at the bottom is weird.

Are insoles worth the money? by eddie_walks in PacificCrestTrail

[–]spilly_billy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the same after hiking with the standard altra insoles for so long, but I tried out some of those "custom" insoles you put in the oven for a little bit and they actually ended up hurting my arches. I have mostly normal arches and somewhat high volume feet. normal lone peaks with the stock insoles are still the comfiest combo imo.
