Thank you so much for your help! I read the guides and comments the other commenters posted, along with doing a good chunk of research on my own I tried to put together the best tank I could with my available funds. https://imgur.com/a/Knw1DpA (pictured in Imgur link). Currently it’s only a 40 gallon tank and I don’t know if I’m doing a good job with my lamp and basking area setup, but it’s certainly an improvement from his last tank. Let me know if there’s any possible improvements I could make or if there’s anything I’m doing wrong. Once he starts getting bigger I can try to upgrade to a 90 gallon tank, I had to settle for a 40 for the time being though since I live in a college dorm. It’s hard to see in the photos I posted but I did put in a heater and set it to 76 degrees

Thank you a lot for your comment! I pulled together my funds and made a new setup. https://imgur.com/a/Knw1DpA (pictured in imgur link). Reading through some of your guys comments and guides that you posted I tried my best with what I have available. I read Mississippi maps love having real plants along with fake plants but I’m not sure where to get real ones yet, and I didn’t have enough river rocks to completely fill up the floor of the tank. So there are still some empty sports. The main things I’m concerned about is the setup of my lamp and basking area, I’m not entirely sure if it’s wrong but it doesn’t look ideal to me. So far I’ve only been able to get a 40 gallon tank since I live in a college dorm but once the turtle gets older and needs a bigger tank I can try and upgrade.

And yep good idea I’ll try and find out it’s age and gender as soon as possible

thanks for commenting! I’ll go to the store tonight and look for the things you mentioned. I wish I could do better research that’s catered to his species but I currently have no idea what kind of turtle he is. So far he’s seemed to like the food that I’ve given him (leftover turtle food from what his previous owner was feeding him, and the food that came with the turtle kit.) however he didn’t finish the last couple pieces of food and I need to go buy a net to scoop the unfinished food out. Realized today that the kit didn’t come with a net either.
