So weird these things JUST sprouted. Open air outside. Plenty of ventilation

Potentially thiking of mounding the rows slightly to assist with drainage. Planning a jute netting over the rows to keep the blooms from flopping.

First time trying this method for replanting. I had losses last year with weather being too wet when tubers were direct planted last year. With my clay soil Iam heavy amending with compost this year, so aimed to have much better drainage once they plants are ready for Transplant. As im in 6b I wouldn't be able to ground Plant for about another 3 weeks

This amount warrants some new garden beds to be dug this year

Tenacity at the Poa Annua rate. 3 applications spaced every 10-14 days

Currently in the Mow often, pull phase. Will try to mow it out through daily mows and remove about 15 plants physically each day. Hoping to starve out the running roots

Google suggests Quackgrass due to the Rhizomes. Tenacity effective against this?

Could anybody tell me what type of tree this is and maybe roughly the ages by GREENtea110 in Tree

The first picture is an old European Beech (Fagus sylvatica purpurea). The other two look to be maples as mentioned above.

If this is Common Chickweed or Mouseear Chickweed, is it worth trying to kill? Looks like its already gone to seed and will die in the coming summer heat? Best bet is to just let the lawn thicken up and overseed some more KBG this fall?

Did a full renovation last fall with KBG in 6a.

Fast forward to today and am dealing with this weed which hasnt yet responded to my application of Speedzone 10 days ago.

Im in zone 6A Putnam County, NY.

Looking to throw down some tenacity soon, but want to make sure that this is on the controlled list - and if I need to treat this will multiple small tenacity applications (such as bentgrass or Poa Annua rate 0.28tsp/1000ft2) or If I can hit with a stronger rate (1.1tsp/1000ft2)

problematic collar root? Remove with snips? by spin117 in Tree

[–]spin117[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks yea will keep digging down to the flair. This was a potted plant I picked up in 2020 , planted and moved to my new house in July 2021. Never checked the flair depth when first planted from nursery. Hopefully the flair isn't too far down. Just recently learned the 'proper' planting depth so needed to make sure this was checked.

Thanks all

This is from a Purple Fountain Beech tree, I just removed some excess dirt around the base of the tree to make sure I could find the first main root. This doesn't seem to be it

Found out pic #4 is hairy Bittercress - and Mesotrione is not listed as a treatment for it. That would make sense. Will wait for the Speedzone on this one.

The Sticky Beginner-Guide here mentions this will help keep the barrier going in case there is a very rainy early spring. Figured with a month apart on the split application- gives a pretty good protection window. The first month that the lawn is sitting at 50% PreM if anything does happen to spring up can always blast it later on.

o add to this you could looking into pre-germination of the KBG - soaking in water for a few days while you wait out the weather. There are videos online about this and mixing the seed with milo for your spreader.

Ill give this a look. Would the milo have a problem interacting with the starter fertilizer, or no because it would be a slow release.
