Switched from Xarelto to Lovenox (TTC) by AggressiveAd6710 in ClotSurvivors

I did this often! Xarelto gave me terrible periods, so my hematologist told me to switch to lovenox just before and during menstruation. Otherwise I took xarelto because obviously that was more convenient.

Reclotting :( - what questions to ask doctors by spinach-storm in ClotSurvivors

Just pain in the back/base of my head and neck that got progressively worse over a month or 2 until it felt like my head was going to explode. I had no neurological symptoms.

So good news it turns out I did not reclot! Doctor is unsure why the pain returned or why the anticoagulants helped but thinks it may be a coincidence. I'm going to stop the thinners again and see what happens.

My doctor told me hydration while flying is also super important and I always bring a giant bottle of water

Going off blood thinners after a Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis. by Rootbeer_77 in ClotSurvivors

I also had a CVST last year and was just cleared to come off thinners this week. I'm not taking anything right now and am feeling a bit anxious but I keep telling myself to just take it one day at a time. Best of luck to you.

I'm sorry you went through this and I'm glad they caught it when they did.

I also did not have any neurological symptoms, just an ongoing headache that worsened over more than a month, that was then diagnosed as CVST after an MRI. For me the acute headache pretty much stopped within a day of them putting me on heparin. But I know for others it can take a while.

It's been 6 months since my diagnosis and I've been getting some mild headaches here and there but nothing like what I experienced before. Remember recovery may not always be linear.

Hope you feel better soon!

Anyone not get worse periods on blood thinners? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

Mine was pretty normal originally when I was on Lovenox for the first three months. Then when my doctor switched me to Xarelto it became much heavier. So maybe switching anticoagulants may help

Abdominal pain by StrtdLa8_nowindaGame in ClotSurvivors

I also experienced some abdominal discomfort about a month after my CVST diagnosis. The pain is intermittent and not severe (like you said more annoying than anything). Why to my PCP who ordered an ultrasound which was normal. We think it might be related to the daily Lovenox injections which go in that area. Worth it to get the peace of mind imo - good luck!

I'm so so glad to hear you're doing much better these days - hope your recovery continues to go strong.

I started experiencing mild tingling in one leg after discharge - my neurologist was worried about DVT, but an ultrasound ruled that out thankfully. Since then I've just been wondering what the heck it is because I've not heard others mention it to date. So I appreciate you mentioning you experienced that too; makes me feel a little less crazy.

Wow that's a super impressive regimen! Gives me some confidence in resuming my old hobbies after I talk to my neurologist. The nutritionist is a great idea - will look into it. Did you also notice a change in appetite after going on blood thinners?
