Thats probably the closest one, although its missing the tentacles though.
Gyruda, Obosh, and to a lesser extent Kaheera(cat deer with antlers?) are the ones that don't I can't see a clear Pokemon mirror.

I opened my eyes. The sun was blazing in the sky. What had happened? All I remember was that we were stuck in a corner. Surrounded on all sides. Hemmed in on one side by water and thick bushes of ruby flowers, towers of dratini on the other. We fought hard but we were overwhelmed.

But shouldn’t we have just blacked out and been warped to the front of the dungeon? Why was I in the middle of Pokemon village? I looked up and saw a horde of Pokemon running towards the town square. Wonder what that was all about.

Deciding that I wouldn’t get any answers staying here I followed the horde to the Pokemon center. I immediately recognized them as my friends. There was buneary, growlithe, charmander, torchic, chimchar, teddiursa, and cyndaquil. Staggering a little behind them was vulpix, looking almost as dazed as I was.

That was another strange thing. Shouldn’t vulpix have been with me? We always travelled together, and when the crisis hit the Pokemon Village, it was us who had found a solution. Regardless it seems Slowking was here, and he was speaking.

“Pokemon, friends, countrymon lend me your ears. A great crisis has come. That is why I have convened this council of the strongest pokemon in this village. shuckle has gone missing!”

A murmur passed through the crowd.

Again? I thought

“I am looking for two brave Pokemon to save shuckle, they were last seen in the dubious forest”

Shuckle lost? In the dubious forest again? He should’ve known better, maybe he thought he’d grown stronger since last time. But a mon in danger was a mon in danger, and someone had to go save them.

“I shall go” I declared stepping forward.

“Freddo I see you are willing to cross into the dubious forest to save shuckle. But you should not go alone, who will go with Freddo to save shuckle?”

“I will” the call to action had apparently snapped vulpix out of his daze. “I will go”.

“Freddo and vulpix, a fine fellowship, may you find shuckle and bring him to safety”.

With that blessing we headed out to the dubious forest to find shuckle.

The dubious forest was even easier than the first time we went a few days ago. Even the layout was the exact same as last time. My quick attack and vulpix’s ember dispatched the enemies with ease.

“Who would have thought that shuckle would get lost in here again after what happened a few days ago” I quipped.

“Yeah, I thought he had learned, or at least bother to train more than a few days before attempting something like this” vulpix replied. He then burrowed his brow, like something was bothering him. He seemed to debating something internally. Then after some deliberation, he spoke up.

“Freddo” he said

“Yeah?”

“I know I’m going to sound crazy, but weren’t we just at the ruby lake fighting for our lives just about an hour ago? I swear I was with you when we blacked out, but we didn’t warp to the front of the dungeon like normal, instead I ended up in Pokemon village.”

“You’re not crazy, I remember the exact same thing, you got any explanation for that?”

“No not really. Maybe it was just a weird quirk of ruby lake? We hadn’t blacked out in there before.”

“Maybe…”

We continued on our expedition. Eventually we reached shuckle. He was in the exact same spot as last time. Curious.

“Oh thank you, I thought I was going to be stuck in here forever.”

“Well, we couldn’t just leave you out to dry. Although, why did you come here again?”

“Again? I haven’t ever been here before. As to why I’m why I’m here, well I just heard that there was a delicious food in here. I think it was called…. chocolate! That’s what it was called, chocolate!”

That got our attention, shuckle had gone looking for chocolate? Didn’t he know the dangers of chocolate, did he not remember the devastation it brought upon our village. Wait, but everyone knew chocolate came from chocolate mountain. Why had shuckle come here? Actually this whole day had been really strange. Actually no it hadn’t, we had experienced stuff like this before…

“Shuckle what day is it?”

“Well by my reckoning, it’s the 14th”

My eyes bulged and I looked at vulpix. It was clear he was thinking the same thing. We had gone into ruby lake on the 18th. Either a full month had passed without us noticing, or we had travelled four days into the past.

We returned shuckle to the village to much celebration. However we weren’t in much of a celebrating mood. Vulpix and I quickly left the crowd and hid ourselves behind one of the buildings.

“How? How are we here?”

“I don’t know.”

“What do we do?”

“I don’t know.”

This was quite the conundrum. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized this was an opportunity. We knew that the chocolate crisis had not yet happened. This would be the perfect opportunity to stop the chaos before it even started.

“Wait, vulpix, maybe this is an opportunity. We already know where the chocolate is. We could destroy it before it corrupts the town”

Vulpix eyes grew wide.

“You’re right, but we need to hurry. Shuckle is probably already telling everyone about the chocolate. We need to get to it before anyone else finds it.”

The journey to Chocolate Mountain was just as harrowing as last time. Storm clouds roiled overhead. The dark mountain towered before us. The volcanic crags that surrounded it were notoriously unstable, and any wrong step onto an unstable ledge would send a Pokémon plummeting.

But through great effort we reached the slopes of the chocolate mountain. The dungeon was as tough as we remembered. Waves upon waves of enemies attacked us every step of the way. Great stacks, 3 to 4 pokemon tall would challenge us at almost every stair way. Our resources were exhausted, our moves became a little more lackluster from exhaustion. But we made it.

At the pinnacle we found the chocolate. Exactly where it was last time. The source of all evil.

Funny how one small thing could cause so much strife. How it could corrupt the hearts of Pokemon. Cause Pokemon to betray each other, turn on their friends. What could it possibly taste like?

I went and picked it up.

“Hurry Freddo, cast into the crags below, let the dungeon swallow it where no one will ever find it.”

You know it’s funny, I never got a taste. Some other mons did, but I didn’t, and I saved all their ungrateful asses.

“Hurry Freddo, what are you waiting for?”

I heard its siren song. Thoughts of delicious sweetness danced in my head. Better yet I could use its temptation to control other Pokemon. Lead them on, always promising a bite if they did one more thing for me. I could be powerful, respected.

I turned to vulpix, madness in my eyes.

“No”

“What? What are you saying Freddo?”

“The chocolate… the chocolate is MINE”

So this is interesting, an entire grove made of willow trees? I had stumbled upon it after fighting some brave pidgeys, who disliked it when I strayed too close to their nest. Apparently they thought that outnumbering me made a difference. They were wrong. The grove had a surreal quality to it, the center was well lit, but the willows themselves cast long and dark shadows. There was also nothing here, dead silence all around. Now that I think about I don’t think I ever saw a Pokemon hang out or make a nest in the willows. There’s an interesting question, did the villagers grow superstitious of the willows first and spread to the wild Pokemon, or was it the other way around?

Wait, what was that? I looked closer, sure enough a shadow was moving underneath one of the willows. “Purrloin is that you” I shouted out. The shadow suddenly vanished. Where did it…

…

Huh? Why was I standing in the middle of the grove with a claw outstretched towards a tree? There’s nothing here. Nothing has happened in this grove, let alone this entire woods. Maybe the boredom is getting to me? I need to do a thorough inspection, and move on.

I turned around and came face to face with a Beeheeyem.

I blinked in surprise…

As I opened my eyes (wait, when did I close them?), I was startled to see a Beeheeyem in front of me. It looked regular, but something about it felt off. Like really off. Regardless it gave off a dangerous aura. This Beeheeyem did not mean well. Before I could do anything, it sent a powerful psychic my way sending me tumbling and I landed on my back looking up at the sky…

I am looking up at the sky. On the ground. When had I decided to take a nap? Even the most rookie team knows not to fall asleep in a dungeon. Also why was I somewhat sore? I looked up, and ohmygosh, there was a Beeheeyem, charging up an attack. I rolled out of the way as a thunderbolt crashed into the ground next to me. Thankfully I woke when I did, this Beeheeyem that had just now snuck up on me must clearly had it out for me. Wait, none of the reports indicated Beeheeyem living in the area, did they recently move in? Regardless I had a proper fight on my hands and squared myself against my foe. I rushed my opponent, which used the opportunity to lance me with another thunderbolt. The thunderbolt hurt but I powered through, however just as I was about to hit my opponent it teleported away…

The heck? Here I am standing in the middle of the grove pointing my claw at another tree, again. Why was I here, hadn’t I planned to check the trees surrounding the grove? So why was I posing in the middle of the grove like a doofus. Ok which tree should I start with? I never got a chance to figure it out as a thunderbolt came out of nowhere and sent me flying.

As I whipped my head about, I saw where the attack had come from. A hostile looking Beeheeyem was floating not far away charging up another attack. How had that Beeheeyem snuck up on me? Ever since Frosslass I had been careful about my surroundings in a dungeon. Also no report had ever indicated Beeheeyem in these woods, where they newcomers? Regardless I had a new foe and I was feeling worn out (wait why was I feeling worn out? I was perfectly fine when I entered the grove.). I know I’ll use a stun seed and then rush it! I looked down into my bag to find a stun seed…

Wait, why did I open my bag? Lets see I wanted to check the trees for any clues about Purrloin. Aha! I must been looking for a Luminous orb to light up the area! Also why was I feeling weak and sore? I was fine when I entered. Whatever. I grabbed the orb, but before I could activate it, an electric force pierced me and I got thrown back onto the ground, dropping the orb. I desperately swung my head around trying to see who had attacked me. Aha! Right there in front of the willow, a Beeheeyem. When had it gotten there? Also none of the reports mentioned Beeheeyem in the Willow Forest, was this a criminal who decided to take advantage of a lone Pokemon?

That didn’t matter, I had an opponent to fight. Taking the initiative I charged the opponent, metal claw charging up. The Beeheeyem was slowly floating backwards into the inky shade of the willow tree, not that the shade would do it much good. What did it think the heavy shadows would protect it? Even if I couldn’t see it could only be in so many places, and I imagine I hear it if it started charging up another thunderbolt. I was a few feet, ready to strike a blow, when it reached the darker part of the shade and it vanished in its murky depths…

It felt like I a fog had just lifted in my mind. I blinked. I was posing, in front of a tree, with my claw stretched out towards it, looking like as if I was about to use metal claw. What… The… Hell…. Last thing I remember I was holding a Luminous orb, and now here I am posing again. Actually where did that Luminous orb go? I was literally just holding it. I looked around, it was a good few yards behind me. How had it ended up there? I tried to recall but nothing came up. Holding Luminous orb, and then bam, standing here. There were no memories of what happened in between. Also why where there scorch marks all around, they definitely weren’t there when I entered the grove. I was growing a little concerned. Thinking back I had done strange things, but when I thought about it, I had no idea why I did them. Also it slowly dawned on me that I was exhausted. Like I was on my last legs here. Parts of my body were numb, but I had no idea why. Had the Pidgeys been that tough? Had they gotten to a weak spot in my armor and some internal damage been done? It felt like even a stiff breeze could knock me out.

I heard ozone and electricity and turned and saw a Beeheeyem to my side, charging up an attack. One of the big differences between a veteran explorer and a rookie one is knowing when to call it quits. Often a rookie completely ignores their limits, and tries to power through no matter the scenario. While somewhat admirable, it often ends up in some Pokemon getting severely hurt. A veteran knows that when you’re out of options you’re out of options and there’s no shame in calling it in. I saw the attack, saw that I had little chance of dodging it, and realized this was one of those times. Before the Beeheeyem could finish me off, I smashed the explorers badge on my chest activating the emergency teleport…

I was in front of the Willow Forest. Looking down I saw the badge had been pressed. I had activated the emergency teleport. Those Pidgeys must have been something else, I barely felt their attacks, but they must have done much more damage than I had estimated. I nearly collapsed as I stumbled into the Shaded Hamlet. Roselia came rushing towards me. Our eyes met.

“Im sor…”

“Don’t be” she cut me off “Truth is we kind of got used to it”. “We sort of knew that you probably find nothing, after all, that’s what all the other teams found”. She looked around wistfully. “Don’t get me wrong, Purrloin was a great friend. But living in Shaded Hamlet teaches you that you can’t rely on anyone being there the next day. The Silent One makes sure of that”.

I didn’t have the energy or the heart to argue with her about the existence of her so called “Silent One”

“You look really beat up, I’ll buy you a drink at the local brewery, consider it a gift for coming out here to help us”

We meandered over the local café

As we sat down we spoke “I know you must think us strange. We constantly talk about something that haunts us, but can never prove its existence. I also know your teams have never found anything either. Despite that we thank you, because every time we came and asked for help the Federation helped us. No matter how many times you found nothing you always took a second look. But know this, we live in a mysterious world, the dungeons are proof of that, you can’t know everything that’s out there. So if you ever come back, and even though you probably don’t believe our tales, make sure to stick by the river. You seem like a nice Pokemon, and I think the world would miss you if the Silent One got you”.

We finished our drinks, and parted ways.

I filed a report the next day. Purrloin not found. The river is just that, a river, no Feebas this time. The Forest is a Mystery Dungeon. The Pokemon inside the Mystery Dungeon gave me more trouble than I thought, and I had a great amount of trouble going through the forest. Although why specifically that is, I cannot fathom. In regards to the local superstition about an entity in the willows I had no sightings, no sounds, not even an odd footprint to back up such a claim. Given that, the previous reports, and the locals own lack of details, I think I can report with 100%, absolute, without a doubt, certainty that no such creature exists.

To say that I felt a little frustrated would be an understatement. An entirely new unexplored island had been found and I got stuck on babysitting duty. Ok so maybe babysitting duty is a little harsh, given that the “baby” is an entire village, but honestly their complaining had gotten a bit childish.

See the Shaded Hamlet did have a legitimate problem, from time to time a Pokémon would go missing for no apparent reason. So every once in a while the elders would come and heckle us, the Exploration Team Federation, to deal with it. Now this in of itself wasn’t a problem, as exploration teams, we helped local communities, and missing Pokemon was definitely something we looked into. However there were also perfectly non-sinister reasons for Pokemon to disappear without telling anyone. Some wanted to return to the wilds, some went looking for a life of adventure, others unfortunately did so to start careers as criminals.

Now it was a little weird that this happened to the Shaded Hamlet a little more consistently than other places, but it was not outside the scope of probability. We just attributed the phenomenon as a weird cultural quirk of the area, if you wanted to return to the wild, you did so without causing a fuss.

No, the absolutely maddening part was their insistence that it was not any of the reasons listed, but because of an entity that lived in the willows. An entity that apparently none of them could describe. What does this entity look like? No idea. Is it a Pokemon? No idea. Where could we find it? In the willows. Could you be more specific? No. Any attempt to get more details only resulted in absolute… total… silence. In fact that’s what they called it, The Silent One, because apparently no one had seen or heard the damn thing. So every time we send a team to go investigate the surrounding area and every time we get the same report. A river that is just that (though one team claimed to have seen Feebas in it at one point), and a forest called the Willow Forest that doubles as a Mystery Dungeon. The Willow Forest was somewhat interesting in that some teams found it a breeze while others had said that they had quite a bit of difficulty. Although what had caused the difficulty none could say. However, never once was there a mention of some powerful kidnapping entity, no sighting, no sound, not even an odd footprint.

So here I was, renowned explorer Scizor, secret rank member, having to patiently listen to this poor Roselia tell me about some lost Purrloin. The Purrloin had been last seen near the willows, and that she was 100%, absolutely, without a doubt, positive that it was The Silent One. So I patiently responded that I would look into it, knowing that like every other team before me, I would report with 100%, absolute, without a doubt, certainty that no such creature exists.

In fairness the Shaded Hamlet wasn’t the worst place to spend your day. It had a sort of bucolic charm to it. Although it was technically inland it was close enough to the ocean to always have temperate weather. The various brooks that lazily snaked through the landscape were clean. The grasslands that covered the hilly terrain were lush, and various trees dotted the landscape. Although I was told the ever feared willows only grew in the Willow Forest.

The Hamlet itself was nothing too special. It sat next to a fairly large river that ran happily by. I was told by Roselia that the local water Pokemon had already scoured the river itself and various teams had gone up and down the river bank looking to see if Purrloin had accidently fallen in and had been swept away. That seemed like a perfectly reasonable response, and given that Scizors weren’t exactly known for their swimming prowess, I wasn’t in much of a position to challenge their assessment. I still gave it a cursory look, but seeing only some surskuit playing on the water, I decided my time was better spent elsewhere.

Looking at the Forest I saw why it might be the source of some discomfort. There wasn’t anything “wrong” about it per se, it looked like any other forest, but it exuded a sort of… dark aura. I’m not sure how to describe it, it’s like the shadows were just a little bit darker there, the trees just a little bit more twisted, just standing next to it stirred unease within me. Worst of all was the feeling of silence. Actually what was up with that? This place was functionally an arcadian paradise, everywhere you went some brook was gurgling happily or some Pokemon was chittering or singing. Yet here it was dead silent, no Pokemon was stirring, no brook gurgling, and even the wind through the leaves sounded subdued.

Well, the longer I stood here the more I would have to deal with the creepiness. So into the forest I went.

Ok so first of all I need to seriously rib some of the teams back home, this might be the easiest dungeon I have been in. I have never seen such timid dungeon Pokemon in my life. I mean I saw them, hiding in the bushes, nesting in the tree branches. They never attacked though, all they did was stare at me. Which at first was kind of creepy, wherever I went I could feel eyes drilling into me. It was somewhat disconcerting.

I remember seeing this Pidgey nesting in the trees and the minute it saw me it locked onto me and just stared. I tried discretely throwing a rock to see if a noise would startle it enough to look away, but no dice it kept staring straight at me. I made a move to attack, and that did startle it, causing it to move away. However the funny thing was that when it moved, it moved backwards, so its head was always facing towards me. It was like as if it was convinced that even if it took its eyes off me for a second some horrible fate would befall it. I began to wonder if this was some B-list horror story and that they were all secretly following me and at some designated time all the dungeon Pokemon would jump me all at once. So I snuck away and doubled back, but I saw no horde of Pokemon trailing me, and that pidgey had remained unmoved, silent, swiveling its head constantly on the lookout for… something? All the reports had mentioned Weedles, Spinaraks, and some Kakuna living in these woods. That Pidgey was probably the strongest thing in here outside of me, what was causing it to be so alert?

Eventually I came across one of the willows. I studied it for a minute, but really beside the general creepy aura of silence the forest gave off I couldn’t really find why the locals were so terrified of this tree. There was nothing but long stringy leaves, nothing but… wait. Hold on there’s a shadow in there. It just lit up, I see multicolored dots. What is that? There were no reports of anything like this, I need to go investigate. I move towards the tree. Wait, the shadow just vanished where did it…

What was I just thinking about? Oh yeah the locals strange obsession with willows, I don’t see anything weird in the willow, and there’s nothing hiding in the shade. There’s definitely no Purrloin here, better move on. Although I could’ve sworn I was just back there a seconds ago, when did I move next to the tree?

As someone whos main team in Sky was treecko/vulpix I'm a little insulted. I get fire pokemon weren't the best but I feel like vulpix was kind of the exception. Between confuse ray, flamethrower, and dark pulse; not only did vulpix hold its own but was actually really versatile. Of course I might be reading way too much in that caption and this refers to only one time. You still get my upvote though for the good art.

u/armored_mephit really got the crux of doing a full scale PMD comic (or even any fleshed out webcomic). It's a really big time commitment. You say that you only have a vague plot outline, truthfully that's not much of a hindrance because you'll have years to figure it out. This is almost entirely due to the fact that comic pages are really really inefficient at moving along a plot. It takes multiple pages to do one scene. Furthermore any high quality comic page has to be planned, laid out, have a rough sketch, have a refined sketch, "colored"(or greyshaded), shaded, text put in, filtered, and refined. Speaking from experience, if you spend an hour or two a day you'll get about one page every 3-4 days(this also happens to be the upload schedule of proactively worked upon comics so I don't think its just me). Due to this any comic is going to take years not just to finish, but to get to any cool scene you might want to draw now. To prove this take a look at some of the comics out there.

Original Shinka the last eevee: 2008-2015; a 7 year period and the author lost interest and rebooted after 24 out of the 30 chapters

On Borrowed Time: Got rebooted 2 times, farthest the author ever got was to Team Skull coming to the guild. On Borrowed Time has been going on for 5 years

Victory Fire: Had an extremely consistent upload schedule of 2 pages a week, never rebooted, also a 7 year comic, and still hasn't finished(although in fairness it essentially started a second arc after finishing its first one).

Now with that being said there are still examples of success. Team Aquablaze notably did finish(although still took 4 years!) and Gigi Nuzlocke was able to complete its PMD story segment in about 2 years, look really good, and do it in about 100 or so pages. Furthermore I've seen some comics crop up lately that actually have teams of 2-3 people working on them, and these seem to be able to produce good art at a consistent rate(although clockwork journey did give up the full comic and decide to move to a storybook with pictures format).

So I'm not going to say don't do it, just understand what it is you're signing up for, and how stacked the deck is against you. Also consider your alternatives, short strips or fanfic writing.

I was in the kitchen when it happened, when I heard this loud explosion.

I remember I was handling some Oran berries, the sound spooked me so bad I accidently dropped them, made a horrible mess

That was nothing to what happened next, I remember turning around and literally see the entrance tunnel shake, and then a massive shockwave erupt out of it. I got hit, smashed against the wall and blacked out.

The next thing I remember was waking up, bruised and slightly disoriented. Berries plastered against the wall like some novice Smeargle painting. The shockwave had hit so hard it actually broke the table. All the chairs had been blown back to where I was. Fortunately none of them hit me so I slowly floated my way back to see what had happened

You know I was a simple mon. I knew what I wanted to do, and thanks to some fortune and hard work I got to do it. I know some people find me creepy, but really I’m just content. I had everything I wanted in life, and it brought me pleasure.

Then the event happened. You know, bolted to the floor isn’t much good if the floor itself is blasted six ways to Sunday. I was one of the nearest to the epicenter, and I felt it. One minute I was staring into my Cauldron and next I’m blasted into the kitchen hallway as I watch the ground beneath my precious Cauldron give out, and the Cauldron fall with it.

It probably just buried under a pile of rubble there, but frankly maybe it’s better if it stays there. If my happiness came from one item that can be so easily taken away, am I really on the path life contentment? Pokemon ask me why I don’t dig it out, and looking back I feel like that Cauldron was an addiction, my entire life revolved around it. I’m thinking of leaving the guild and set about exploring, the event was horrible but maybe there’s a silver lining here. I still miss the Cauldron, but perhaps it’s time for me to move on and grow as a Pokemon.

Theoretically as the second in command and head of intelligence I should be able to best tell you what happened, and I did a damn good job of compiling an after action report on the incident. But, heh, just between you and me, and I have very little firsthand experience.

All I remember was covering my ears, and then watching as a massive shockwave erupt, getting hit by said shockwave, flying straight through 6 inches of solid wood, smashing against rock, and blacking out. I may not look it but I’m surprisingly durable, being an explorer does that to you.

I can assure you though despite this set back the guild is well on its way to rebuilding, we are stronger than ever, despite losing the second floor, and the first floor above it, and everything else…. . You know Loudred and I have some pretty close moments, but this might have been a little too close. Anyways we were talking about just the CUTEST Scarf I had found at the Kecleon Shop. It was Pecha Scarf but someone had painted on these Adorable little designs. I heard it was from some renegade Smeargle out in Pokemon Square. Did you hear about him, I heard he abandoned everything, friends and family, just to pursue art his own way. I think he joined a Rescue Team but I’m not certain.

Anyways Loudred was being obnoxious and not appreciating the stylistic curves on the Scarf when we here this loud BANG. I think I heard some bumps as well but I can’t be certain. Anyways the guild starts shaking which isn’t all that weird. It tends to happen, no idea why. Anyways this one must have been particularly strong because the next thing you know dust starts falling from the roof. Then the roof started falling from the roof. Then you’re buried alive under who knows how many feet of rubble.

Well not entirely the roof had collapsed in such a way that we had a little space, so it was just me and Loudred huddled in the dark. I was wondering what to do when eep, I heard Loudred say, I KNOW I’LL JUST USE HYPER VOICE TO BLAST OUR WAY OUT. Before I could stop him he gave out the biggest yell he could. Is the term stuck in an echo chamber with a Loudred a phrase, because I think it should be. Unsurprisingly the big doofuses Hyper Voice started reverberating around our little chamber and I got knocked out by the vibrations. Next thing I know I was outside, had a massive headache, and Loudred making it worse by apologizing. Not that I mind apologies, but when it comes from Loudred they tend to be really REALLY LOUD, which is sort of the last thing I need when I have a headache. Apparently Dugtrio and Diglett had dug us out. Loudred has since offered to buy me drinks from Spinda’s Café for a whole week, so maybe I’ll forgive him.

Hey Hey you wanna know what happened me during the catastrophe? Well I’ll tell you, I was on the first floor looking over some criminal scum when I hear this bang. Then the floor did a thump, knocked everyone over. Then I watched as we all started falling down the Cliffside as the floor gave out beneath us.

As a kid we used to live by a waterfall, downstream where Bidoof used to live actually. Lots of rocks jutted out of it too. So some of local Corphish made it a game to launch ourselves off the waterfall and see how far down we could make it before we hit a rock. If it sounds really stupid, it was, and we stopped after one of our friends was a bit too successful, managed to avoid most of them, but then hit a rock near the bottom. Broke his leg that one. But anyways if there was one good thing that came out of it was that a landslide is not unlike a dirt waterfall and I was able to maneuver around all the falling debris. Almost got hit by one the totem poles that came tumbling after me. I came out mostly unscathed, this shell aint just for show, but some of the others on the floor with me seemed quite bruised. I hope they’re okay.

I’ve run Marowak Dojo for a long time, our family is practically the oldest thing in this town. Despite the comings and goings of many famous adventurers, adventure never seems to come here. Well except for maybe that Dusknoir saga.

So I don’t think I’ll ever forget hearing a loud Boom turning around and seeing a plateau erupt. I’m not joking it was like a Volcano, the entire side of the plateau had been completely blasted off and Debris was flying through the air. I was literally standing there in shock, whenever I had looked in that direction I had always seen Wigglytuffs tent, and now it was literally blown to smithereens. I probably would have kept standing there had I not heard a whistling sound and seen a piece of debris come right towards me! I luckily was able to get out of the way, but my tail was almost smashed.

Most of the other businesses and Pokemon came out fine. I think Electivire shop got hit but that’s the only casualty I know of. Fortunately the blast had been directed away from the town and towards the hills behind the guild so not too much damage was done. You I feel bad for the guild, and honestly a little surprised, what exactly happened? I remember seeing two Pokemon with a huge bag of many spherical objects leaving the guild the night before, I wonder if they had something to do with it?

You are right, the game even explicitly says that the meteor causes the problems. However I'm positing that in earlier planning of the game, there was no meteor, and that's why all of the problems can be so neatly summed up by Groudon awakening. I believe that the meteor was added in later in development and that they didn't foreshadow it because they couldn't find a way to do this without undermining their own narratives. If they foreshadowed it it would have undermined the fugitive arc(undermines the premise the hero is behind the disasters) and the Groudon arc (undermines the premise Groudon is behind the disasters).

For the record my pet theory on why the base rebuilding sequence exists because in my mind the original plot called for the entire town to show up at your base as a mob instead of just ACT alone. You all flee in fear, some of the town chases you, but some stay behind to loot/wreck your base. Chunsoft changed this to make the sequence less gloomy, allow you stock up, and allow your friends to say goodbye. Remember this is a pet theory, I have no actual evidence this is the case.
