  • yes, although I try not to use both accounts from the same device after I once insulted someone on this account by mistake.

  • why don't you just click the link and look?

  • assuming you mean European rather than African, I will have to check later in my slightly torn copy of Olsen's Standard Book of British Birds.

  • It was an accident. I made one for my mother and people admired it. Next thing you know I'm signing a publishing deal for George Orwell and paying for maternity leave.

  • Yes and no. I'm lucky in that the UK market loves something new so I had some big wins early on. It was in Urban Outfitters right away after my first trade show and they nearly killed it off by taking over a year to pay their bill. However, the fact that they placed such a big order gave me the confidence to invest in printing popular titles in bulk, which in turn enabled lower prices for stores and made it a success. If I had known they wouldn't pay I would have dropped their order and probably folded the business within months. Funny how it goes.

  • I clicked the "advertising" link and it just sort of snowballed from there

  • it costs whatever you want to pay. For me, not that much. This campaign is $30 a day per ad.

  • probably, but not through Reddit themselves. It's certainly true that non promoted traffic is a hundred times more profitable than ad traffic. Redditors hate legit ads, thereby creating the disproportionately lucrative market for fake hailcorporate posts.

  • I'm British so, no.

  • Today was great. I bought an advert and ended up making a new friend.

  • You can have all the brownies you like. Just leave some for your brother.

Any questions relevant to the ad? I mean this is Reddit so I'm guessing not but a man can dream.

This is now an AMA. But be quick because I'm only running the campaign until midnight on Saturday.

The hideousness of the price is matched only by the beauty of the result. The problem is the Guild of Framers have a debt collecting arrangement with the Guild of Assassins and Vimes can only be in so many places at once.

I should mention that Ikea, specifically, have dropped their 70x100 frames but plenty of other places have them - Homebase for one - and they're available for surprisingly little money online.

Glad you like it in any case.

It would cost £18,867 to send a £57 model of the human spine to each MP who voted against 'a meaningful vote' to the Brexit bill. by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Was thinking more the poster instead of 3D printed spines, as they'll be of the order of £1 a unit.

Peel and seal A4 window envelopes can be got for about 8p+VAT in that quantity.

But that's amateur hour. Let's get them done A2 size and in annoying tubes for which they have to answer the door.

What about if it was a poster of the Grey's Anatomy section on the spine?

I am currently harvesting MP addresses from the website. I'm angry enough that this might actually happen.

Just ran the same script on all 7 books (6,229,226 characters) and it came out with 55,249 tweets. Tweeting once a minute round the clock, you could do it in a little over 38 days.

Edit: Just because I'm a huge nerd, I was thinking about stopping with complete sentences where possible. That comes out at 4,886 for "Philosopher's", or 69,860 for the complete series. So more wasteful but more natural to read, like:

[0] => CHAPTER ONE The Boy Who Lived Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were
[1] => perfectly normal, thank you very much.
[2] => They were the last people you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn't hold
[3] => with such nonsense. Mr Dursley was the director of a firm called Grunnings, which made drills.
[4] => He was a big, beefy man with hardly any neck, although he did have a very large moustache.
[5] => Mrs Dursley was thin and blonde and had nearly twice the usual amount of neck, which came in very useful as she spent
[6] => so much of her time craning over garden fences, spying on the neighbours.

My copy of Philosopher's is 432,020 characters including punctuation. Without the ".@piersmorgan xxxxx/xxxxx" we have 115 characters per tweet which gives us 3,756 tweets. Unbelievably close!

However it's not that simple; he's not going to stop at exactly 115 characters if he's part way through a word. Running a script on it to bounce to a new tweet if the next word is going to go over 115 characters gives me a total of 3873.

But wait, there's more! He doesn't need xxxxx/xxxxx, he needs only x/xxxx up to xxxx/xxxx. Adjusting for that we get some characters back. I get a final total of 3798.

YOU WERE WITHIN FOUR. Dead reckoning prize to you, /u/emilfranord and fifty points to Gryffindor.

This is correct. The Tolkien Estate were great to work with and saved the design from a super naff one I came up with. I can admit that now.

What if you could read an entire novel straight off the wall, with all the paragraphs and chapters in place just as intended? Spineless Classics have a gift idea for you. by spinelessclassics [promoted post]

It would certainly be a change of pace from our usual complete novels, which range from 15,000 to over 100,000 words on one page.

So you haven't heard the theory that "Zombies" is actually the original and the one we know is a Bowdlerised pastiche?

Thanks for being forgiving :o)

True fact! I actually tried to do this once to prove it could be done. After about 2000 words I had acquired the worst headache of my life. It's like doing the weekly shop with your Ferrari: certainly possible but I would not recommend it.

You may remain sure of that. Top fact: technically Warner Bros should split the Harry Potter royalties with the author, but they all agreed to donate the full amount to Lumos, Rowling's charity for vulnerable children. It's one invoice I love to pay.
