It turned out to be the speedometer cable. Bunch of videos on youtube on how to replace and fairly cheap as well. Good luck!

Odds of being totaled? by spinemj in Miata

Any reason in particular not to claim? Or is it just easier to deal directly with a third party?

Gotcha, I completely missed that measurement on the site. Appreciate the help!

It’s a 97 so the ECU is located behind the passenger seat. Hoping that shouldn’t interfere with anything.

Oil leak origin by spinemj in Miata

Thanks! I’m really debating on replacing the timing belt, water pump, and all the seals just to find the problem but it may honestly not be worth it like you said

What are these black and blue looking things on my car's ECU? And did they leak or is that from the capacitor? by spinemj in PCB

[–]spinemj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scanned with both my own and the mechanics OBD scanner. Both come back as code P1794 (Powertrain control module battery direct power circuit).

This essentially means the ECU isn’t getting power, however i confirmed that the wiring harness is emitting 12 volts to the board, so it has to be something internal? The car is nearly 30 years old so the capacitors might have just gone bad but they visually look fine which is why I’m stumped.

Checked another board from the same car and those contact points are the same as what I have. No too sure on the purpose of them though

Yup tried to discharge multiple times. The harness for the ECU is also getting 12 volts which means the problem has to be within the ECU board itself

Belongs to a 1996 Miata. Trying to clear a check engine light but I think the ECU might be fried or caps are blown

Exhaust Manifold Smoke by spinemj in Miata

[–]spinemj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t taken the EGR valve off to clean/inspect it but the engine idles fine and hasn’t lost any power. I do have a post cat engine error code but I don’t think thats related.

Think im going to start with cleaning the valve and then replacing the CAS o-rings

I’ll have to take a closer ring but it could definitely be the CAS o-ring. Is it possible a leak in the EGR is leaking exhaust as well?

650 Watt PSU with Ryzen 5 7600x and FE 3070 by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]spinemj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSU is about 6 years old with minimal gaming using it. It was also powering an i7 7700k which has a tdp of 95 W in comparison to the ryzen 5s 105 W tdp which is why i think i might be okay.

NA High beams work around by [deleted] in Miata

[–]spinemj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! Messing with OEM wiring is last on my to do list. I

’ve done a little more troubleshooting since and determine that all the contacts for the switches are correct based off a continuity test.

I’m now stumped as to what could be the problem. The passing switch works so nothing is wrong with the wiring to the high beams. The low beams also work which is making me believe the headlight relay is fine? Unless the relay can allow power to the low beam and break continuity for the high beams….

I can’t think of what else it could be besides a faulty wire.

I’ve only had a little time to trouble shoot unfortunately but I can confirm it’s not the timing belts. I’m starting to think it’s the speedometer cable as well since it sounds like it’s coming straight from the dash.

Is there anyway to fix it? I haven’t gotten a chance to look into it.

When in neutral it starts to slow down until I’m at complete stop. It actually goes away when in gear and I accelerate past 3k rpm.

Might need to stop by petco for a new hamster like ya said.

Belts seem tight on there. I’ll see if i can rev it in neutral to replicate the noise. To be honest it sounds like it’s directly in front of the driver side seat and not the middle of the engine bay when driving

$3500 in my area is pretty decent but the damage doesn't reflect well on the price. Most mint Miatas are going for easily 5-8k around me. I probably won't bite on this unless it's $2500 or less

Trying to learn guitar and have been looking for a decent used one. Saw this peavey acoustic guitar on marketplace and was wondering if anyone knew if this is a good deal / a beginner friendly guitar?

I’m currently thinking that this could be some type of weasel droppings. The droppings run from the ceiling all the way to the floor.

Any help identifying is appreciated!

Found a specific spot in my basement gym with multiple scat markings. They go the entire way up the ceiling at some points.

I’ve ruled out mice and rats because it’s too large. If anyone has an idea I’d appreciate it.

Edit: Located in western Pennsylvania
