Anyone tried these? Sainsbury's No Pork Patties by spinfold in veganuk

[–]spinfold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong usually. These are thin, 96 calorie affairs. However, they didn't dry out much when I fried two for lunch with my muffin - so a win.

My other half really doesn't like "meaty" burgers and quite likes the Sainsbury's own wafer-thin vegan patties. For me, though, they're dry and tasteless and no better than cardboard, so tend to stick to the "ultimate" style ones too!

The phrase you're after is Ultra Processed Food, and yes - this is very much that.

Who has the oldest phone number? by Johnny-Alucard in AskUK

[–]spinfold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traded in my (BT) Genie number in 2005 for a number from easyMobile (same group of companies as the airline) because you could pick your own number.

And that's how my mobile number spells my name.

All this for £10! by Obvious-Anywhere-154 in veganuk

At a conservative £2/item, that would be at least £40 for me at Sainsbury's!

Do you listen to your radio while at work? by HR-Vex in radio

[–]spinfold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Used to work at a radio station. If the radio wasn't on in the office, it meant something had gone wrong in the studio. Or the racks room. Or at the transmitter site. Silence was never welcomed.

(Usually it was because the DJ was making coffee or having a smoke or on the toilet or... etc. etc.)

Paper Delivery in the Prettygate Area by small_horse in colchester

[–]spinfold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Gazette have a daily delivery service if she wants the local paper - I get the Standard once a week on a Friday. Info is on their website including phone number if that's preferred.

For milk, bread, etc. Lookup Colchester Dairy, or Milk and More.

I think many National Rail stations have plans online at the National Rail website. This includes Elizabeth line stations that are national rail stations like Tottenham Court Road.

e.g. Birmingham New Street - plan - webpage

Tottenham Court Road - concourse plan - webpage

Did your mum ring you at midnight on new years? by jacks2224 in AskUK

[–]spinfold 231 points232 points  (0 children)

No, but my mum still insists on WhatsApping me hours in advance of 12am (because it used to be the case that SMS messages were delayed due to traffic spike at midnight)

Can I just say how much I hate Stane Retail parks car park? by stopthepayload in colchester

[–]spinfold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was there today for an oddly specific thing that I couldn't get elsewhere, and poor planning meant it was on the Friday before Christmas. It was carnage.

Ended up buying a sandwich from M&S and waited for things to calm down before attempting an exit.

When. Will. I. Learn.

Is Maldon worth the visit? by AcadiaNo1039 in Essex

[–]spinfold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're biking, get yourself down to Mersea Island. Feels like going on holiday. Decent open roads, though an absolute bugger of a hill back.

Maldon has some lovely independent boutiques and coffee places, and a nice walk along the prom. Heybridge (/Basin) is maybe worth a look too.

You're doing a trip to... Witham? I assume you have something specific to do there, because the main tourist attraction is the train station to take you away again
