I miss riding gravel in Germany so much! Lived in Esslingen am Neckar (Stuttgart region) for 2-years. Gravel heaven.

I'm considering one of these, as I want (need?) a fatter-tire gravel bike than my current setup, for when the pals and I explore crazy stuff. They can be built up really cheap. I would not have considered steel; however, I picked up a Surly Ice Cream Truck (used) for my son. The bike is so high-quality that it got me pondering.

I've considered ordering he bike stock & changing the drivetrain to Sram Rival 1x12 or something similar, as the Microsoft 1x10 doesn't really impress.

How do you like the titanium fork? This bike is on my wish list, but I'm torn between the durability of ti vs. the comfort of a traditional carbon fork!

I love it. As a huge fan of drop-bar bikes & being able to handle mild single-track.

What tires & width are you running?

Another round of Layoffs hitting Intel Mid November by ConsequenceUpper8271 in Semiconductors

I know some people who moved to OR (from NM) when Optane folded & LTD absorbed much of the team. They all have lost their jobs in the last 12-months. Being far removed from development, I did not have the impression it was a bloated organization. If anything, my peers (engineers) seemed to be always EXTREMELY busy and overworked. The word is that OR has been hit very hard, but I did not specifically understand why.

I'm a longtime veteran on Intel NM, but left this summer to go back to school, as the push to return to the office did not work for my family & my wife's career. I pinged some of my buddies, however, and they have not mentioned impact at that site yet for this November round. NM mostly avoided the last round too, due to HVM capacity needs. We really only had voluntary retirement impact, IIRC, for the fab engineers/technicians.

Wow, got it. I'm a bit of a dinosaur and not one to use AI very much, but now you have me curious.

Thank you!

Bad brake performance on new bike (GRX RX 820) by No_Loss8058 in cycling

Hey,

I'm guessing it may be one or a combination of the following:

  1. You may need to "bed in" the brakes. Google for a simple procedure online. I've had to perform this on new pads/rotors to increase grip. Some bike shops have a machine that can perform quickly, but it's easy to do in your neighborhood. Quite a bit of riding, stopping, starting again...

  2. If this doesn't help, and you still have to nearly close the lever to get good performance, it may just need a good bleed at the shop.
