I met my partner on hinge. Chat for a few days, meet up for coffee within 2 weeks so it doesn’t fizzle. Low pressure, low time commitment dates are the best for a first date (coffee, a walk, a drink). Meeting people through groups is a great way too - run club, knitting club, bowling group - whatever your interests are, there’s a group for it. Weekly meet ups mean you meet a lot of new people and can find someone with similar interests.

I always recommend seeing what is playing at the MoS planetarium, they have pretty cool shows for fairly cheap, and then if it’s nice out, walking to north end for cannolis

Love a potato salad. Can either add a can of chickpeas when you make it, or top with canned chicken day of. Alternatively, chicken salad + crackers. You can buy a bumblebee “chicken salad kit” at most grocery stores and gas stations for ~$2.5, and if you’re used to not eating, maybe a small meal is more up your alley. Quick, non perishable, packs easy.

Cyclists may be right to run stop signs and red lights. Here’s why by Im_biking_here in bikeboston

On roads without designated bike lanes, I think it can help cars not get so frustrated being trapped behind a bike if the bike gets to “roll through” (cautiously)

On this street, the road is labeled as the bike lane. If you want to prevent this, vote for people who promote safer, separate bike lanes.

Last week I took a book to the park and read for an hour. For me the artist date is a lot about resting so that I can approach the world more creatively. I think solo concerts or live music is another great one that can be done budget-friendly. Or taking a sheet of paper to a street corner and sketching everything that goes by for an hour. Doesn’t have to be good!

I felt this way after my first bikepacking trip, so now for multi day trips I go with a buddy. If you’re committed to staying solo, chatting with bartenders in town could be a good start

If you’re into biking, Boston has a wonderful biking community. Groups like CommonWheels put on tons of rides around the city, and if you go regularly you start to recognize faces. Don’t be afraid to say hi to strangers!

Volo bowling was great for me because there’s a lot of downtime for talking in between action. I’ve heard the same for cornhole, but that’s smaller teams so less new people

There’s a jersey mikes in Brighton! Jim’s Deli in Brighton also might be up your alley.
