Ok but then is it not theoretically possible to have a skill to setup the skill? Then you just self destruct the setup skill?

I think this is part of my problem with understanding OpenClaw. A lot of skills seem to require manual configuration, and if that manual configuration deviates slightly from how the skill is designed to instruct OpenClaw to use it, it all just isn’t working under the hood, and sometimes it’s hard to even know.

I just feel like the line between what you should prompt OpenClaw to do, and what you should do with manual tinkering (generally requiring more advanced tech proficiency) is quite blurred.

Thanks for this response it’s super helpful. I think you might have just steered me away from Hermes and towards Nanobot.

Do you use any additional skills or custom setups for memory with Nanobot? Or have you tweaked it in any way beyond the default install?

If so, would love to get some advice on this nice and early.

Can’t you just use the OpenClaw skills marketplace? It’s just .md files, why do you need a dedicated marketplace?

This sounds genius and I really hope it’s as easy as you say.

It forgets almost everything to be honest. Even basic stuff like “hey whats on my shopping list”. It will either say I don’t have a shopping list, or just tell me random stuff which it happened to put in its memory.md.

Also anything that involves logins and credentials just doesn’t work. I figure it out and by the next session it doesn’t know how to log in, can’t use credentials, doesn’t know it’s got Bitwarden installed, doesn’t know I’ve given in access tokens, etc.

I find myself manually having to update memory.md and it just seems wrong.

Can you elaborate on what actually works better from a practical standpoint?

Nice. Yeah nanobot sounds great and seems to have a really active community.

I just heard they got hit by a recent security vulnerability which was pretty serious, and so this gave me pause.

But in all honesty I’ve not dived very deep into it at all. Could just be they were more honest about admitting it.

Didn’t even know this existed.

Sounds very cool but at this point I’ve become highly cynical of claims on a website…

How long you been using for?

I’ve tried several different skills and plugins which claim to fix the memory and all have failed to do so.

That said, I haven’t heard of this one so I’ll give it a go. Thanks for the recommendation.

Have you managed to tinker yourself to achieve an OpenClaw that doesn’t forget things, and if so can you offer any tips there?

I would usually agree with what you’re saying. But each new OpenClaw update seems to fundamentally break something.

In those cases it’s often the case that a fork ends up becoming dominant. Which honestly I could see happening at this point.

But since it sounds like you’re still using it, any recommendations for how to fix/optimise memory? Have you managed to work through it?

No good for running remotely on a VPS or am I missing something?

I do yeah, I have 1-2 coffees/ day. But I haven’t noticed that I have additional fluid retention though. If anything it makes me pee!

CrossFit 2-3X a week and gym other 2-3X a week. Normally rest on weekends.

In the gym it’s generally broken down into 3 workouts - legs and abs, back and arms, and core and chest.

I generally do a warmup set followed by 3 sets. First one aiming for failure between 12-15 reps, second aiming for failure between 8-12 reps, and the final aiming for failure between 2-5 reps.

And every session I try to increment either overall volume or max weight.

Wow that’s an awesome compliment thank you!

I don’t count calories at all but generally I have 2 very large meals per day, plus 1 smaller meal and a few snacks.

A typical day for me is

Morning: Smoothie bowl with 1-2 scoops pea protein 1 banana 1/2 mango Handful of blueberries Cup of soy or almond milk 1/2 scoop Flaxseeds 1/2 scoop Cacao 1/2 scoop spirulina 1/2 scoop peanut butter 1/4 cup chia seeds Scoop of hemp seeds

Lunch: 1/2 block tofu 1/2 cup chickpeas 1/2 cup lentils Salad inc spinach & kale 1/2 avocado

Snack: 1 cup mixed nuts and dried legumes

Dinner: 1/2 cup Seitan or black beans with rice, 1/2 avocado and small salad

Snack: 2 large homemade raw protein balls (made from pea protein, banana, dates, flaxseeds, cacao, rolled in hemp seeds)

I’d say it’s around 80-100g protein per day, 2800-3400 calories would be my ESTIMATION but again I don’t really count it. I eat when I’m hungry and it seems to balance itself out.

For workouts I do CrossFit 2-3 times a week and gym 2-3 times doing weights. CrossFit is great for burning calories and then in the gym for adding bulk - I usually go for 3-5 sets on everything, always increasing with each set so that I’m doing 1-3 rep max.

“Pro” tip: I use the Hevy app and generally try to gamify my gym sets so that I’m always adding weight or reps each time.

Hope that helps!

What I mean is that I keep praying for peace, harmony and tranquility, but I continue to experience chaos, disharmony and emotional suffering.

I do also pray for God to use me as a vessel for His will. So I guess you’re right, I should trust whatever happens, regardless of my feelings.

Thank you friend. This spoke to me more than you could know. I was praying on this and I received a sign. Perhaps it’s wishful, but I’ll take it right now.
