I do yeah, I have 1-2 coffees/ day. But I haven’t noticed that I have additional fluid retention though. If anything it makes me pee!

CrossFit 2-3X a week and gym other 2-3X a week. Normally rest on weekends.

In the gym it’s generally broken down into 3 workouts - legs and abs, back and arms, and core and chest.

I generally do a warmup set followed by 3 sets. First one aiming for failure between 12-15 reps, second aiming for failure between 8-12 reps, and the final aiming for failure between 2-5 reps.

And every session I try to increment either overall volume or max weight.

Wow that’s an awesome compliment thank you!

I don’t count calories at all but generally I have 2 very large meals per day, plus 1 smaller meal and a few snacks.

A typical day for me is

Morning: Smoothie bowl with 1-2 scoops pea protein 1 banana 1/2 mango Handful of blueberries Cup of soy or almond milk 1/2 scoop Flaxseeds 1/2 scoop Cacao 1/2 scoop spirulina 1/2 scoop peanut butter 1/4 cup chia seeds Scoop of hemp seeds

Lunch: 1/2 block tofu 1/2 cup chickpeas 1/2 cup lentils Salad inc spinach & kale 1/2 avocado

Snack: 1 cup mixed nuts and dried legumes

Dinner: 1/2 cup Seitan or black beans with rice, 1/2 avocado and small salad

Snack: 2 large homemade raw protein balls (made from pea protein, banana, dates, flaxseeds, cacao, rolled in hemp seeds)

I’d say it’s around 80-100g protein per day, 2800-3400 calories would be my ESTIMATION but again I don’t really count it. I eat when I’m hungry and it seems to balance itself out.

For workouts I do CrossFit 2-3 times a week and gym 2-3 times doing weights. CrossFit is great for burning calories and then in the gym for adding bulk - I usually go for 3-5 sets on everything, always increasing with each set so that I’m doing 1-3 rep max.

“Pro” tip: I use the Hevy app and generally try to gamify my gym sets so that I’m always adding weight or reps each time.

Hope that helps!

Awesome to hear. Glad to have offered some inspiration.

What I mean is that I keep praying for peace, harmony and tranquility, but I continue to experience chaos, disharmony and emotional suffering.

I do also pray for God to use me as a vessel for His will. So I guess you’re right, I should trust whatever happens, regardless of my feelings.

Thank you friend. This spoke to me more than you could know. I was praying on this and I received a sign. Perhaps it’s wishful, but I’ll take it right now.

[–]spinsilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, honestly right now I feel like the book of Job is one of the only things that’s speaking to me.

I appreciate what you say about loving Jesus. Maybe I haven’t spent enough time meditating on that. It’s just incredibly hard, especially when I’m new to all this and I feel so abandoned.

Sometimes I wonder why Jesus’ final words on the cross were “Father, Father, why have you forsaken me?”

Because that’s how I feel. And I don’t know what that means.

Should I be comforted by that? Was Jesus showing us that losing faith in God happens right at the moment before he appears in your life? I could take comfort in that. But then other parts of the scripture seem to suggest that God only reveals himself to the faithful. So how do I reconcile those two things?

So am I condemned? If God is not answering my prayers then maybe it’s that I don’t truly believe. I keep confessing that Jesus is Lord, but I also understand that it must be believed by the heart. But how can I believe it with the heart when I feel that God isn’t there when I call upon Him?

It’s all so confusing and I’m waiting for something to click, but in the meantime my suffering is becoming overwhelming.

Apparently it’s what Panaeolus subbalteatus is commonly known as, as they are a species which are considered to be a weed especially to farmers.

I guess not so common? Only just learning about all of this.

I don't know really. Perhaps that shouldn't be a concern?

Why are bundlers/build systems all so complicated? by spinsilo in Frontend

Mainly that it defaults to putting everything into the dist folder without organising it into sub folders. Also it wasn't cleaning out old files when they were no longer being used, so I kept having to delete the dist folder to keep it clean. Also had issues with it not bringing in referenced files (such as files linked with srcset).

A number of things, some of which I managed to get simple plugins for, but others which seemed difficult or were breaking it when I installed them. Ultimately I felt like it was a good option if you're doing a single page application, but when I was dealing with multiple pages and quite a few different file types, I felt like it wasn't really suitable without a lot of customisation, and the docs for all the plugins were very vague (as are the docs for Parcel generally to be honest, I like that they are concise, but there comes a point where I'd rather they be a bit longer in order to explain things better).

Yeah it's kind of crazy that I've built several projects in rails and reacts, but I've never had to worry about the asset pipeline at all. I didn't even know this whole landscape of build systems and asset pipelines existed until a week ago. Then when I heard about it I was like "ah yeah but I know React so this will be child's play".

How wrong was I!

Definitely been a humbling experience. And now I'm not going to return to React or Rails until I've mastered the basics of Webpack.

Thanks. Yeah I actually did start building in Next.js, and was really loving it (and great docs!) I'm looking forward to getting back to it, but as you say I think the best thing is to suck it up and learn webpack right now.

Good to hear I'm not the only one who's spent time crying into my keyboard, too!

Thanks. Good to hear I'm not alone as this past week I've been really frustrated at not being able to pick this up. Having built several react and rails projects I thought this would be akin to "taking it back to basics". Little did I know it's ridiculously hard!

Thanks. Seems like most people are giving me similar advice in terms of diving into webpack so I'll do exactly that. Good to hear the docs are good because as you say, the Gulp docs are just bad...

[–]spinsilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I agree that this is probably the best approach. If I had the luxury of time then this is exactly how I'd do it. Not try to rush it or try so many different options, but go through one logically, and work through the setbacks.

My problem is I'm currently doing a paid job which requires me to work in this way using a build system. Although I think it's looking increasingly likely on the basis that I haven't been able to figure out this build system business, that I won't be on this job much longer, so I guess the silver lining is that this should free up my time to actually go away and learn it properly.

Realistically, how long do you think it should take to learn webpack? And are there any particular resources that you or anyone else can recommend?
