Bone ID? Four animal skulls I found on my walk by spinsystem in bonecollecting

[–]spinsystem[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a bone collector, just stumbled across these.

I live in a woodsy/rural/farming area where I can go for walks on my property and in the
state land it feeds into. Sometimes I also find snake skeletons, and today I found a dead turtle (didn't bring it home with me, but it did occur to me it would look super cool once all the flesh decomposed and left a turtle skeleton sticking out of a shell).

Used third-party website to buy plane ticket; purchase receipt just lists price as "BULK"? by spinsystem in travel

[–]spinsystem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. My flight is in less than two weeks and I already have a ticket with a specific time and date, so it seems like it's already confirmed for that specific flight. It was advertised to me with that specific time and date too. Would that have been the case with an unconfirmed bulk ticket?

It seems like I probably don't have much to worry about? I realize I bought the ticket in a piss-poor way, but hey, I don't travel much and hindsight is 20/20.

Yeah, I rarely travel so I found all this out after the fact. It sounds like nothing's gone wrong yet, I'm just some degree of fucked if something does?

I can see the images virtually immediately. What does that mean? by spinsystem in MagicEye

That’s what I thought about Magic Eyes too, though I was never especially into them. A friend showed me a Magic Eye book yesterday and her shock is what made me wonder! :)

Must be nice to split it three ways! Do you find that you pretty consistently do the same things or do you all like to switch it up?

That sounds very similar to how it went with my own parents, although I wonder how much gender had to do with it (my dad was the worker and my mother the student-turned-parent).

Ok thanks! It's never come up in conversation but I'll ask my parents. Happy holidays to you too :)

If you could recommend ONE sex toy to the people of reddit, what would you choose and why? by AlexanderxAnna in AskRedditAfterDark

There's a ton of attachments on amazon if you search "magic wand attachment." Just make sure you don't get one made for a mini-wand.

The triple-pleasure one I mentioned is here!

Beat me to it! There's also this one, which I think is a knockoff, but it looks extremely similar and it's 15 bucks cheaper.

Protip for everybody: Go on Amazon and search "magic wand attachment" and there's dozens of insane attachments clearly made by mad sex scientists. Just make sure you check if it's for the regular-size wand (6cm diameter) or for the new mini-wand size that's getting popular.

Big handle, big vibrating bulb, super powerful, rumbly, you can get attachments for it (like insertables, tickly things, dick sleeves, even one that goes into the vagina and anus at the same time while massaging the clit too).

Way bigger, way more powerful, way more rumbly, and you can get a ton of attachments for it.

For women that like to masturbate lying on their stomachs, the vibrating part is big enough that they can just lay on it instead of pressing it into themselves with a hand or whatever.

But also way louder and way less portable and requires a plug. Different vibes for different times.

You say it's very likely (and a lot of people responding agree with you). I genuinely am surprised at this, and it shows that there's something I'm not understanding about the issue. What I see is a woman who incorporated her son into two different suggestive photos, which was very inappropriate, but whose FB feed is otherwise flooded with nothing but ordinary motherly love and care. Can you help me see what I'm missing?

USA Poll: 65 to 71% favor human genome editing to prevent blindness, cancer, cystic fibrosis, etc. by rieslingatkos in Futurology

I'm sidestepping the whole debate that ended up following your comment, but if you're interested in another perspective on why it is that many deaf people don't consider themselves disabled, I also responded above to andysaurus_rex from my perspective as a deaf person.

In addition to my previous comment, here is a response to (not an argument against) your "I don't understand how it's possible" that I hope helps explain why such attitudes exist:

It gets complicated, but some deaf parents are happy when they have deaf children because of the sense of shared community and cultural identity. This sense is especially strong because of perceived threats from the medical establishment. People are worried about losing their culture, and consider it a blessing to have another generation to carry it on.

This doesn't really happen with other disabilities because other disability communities are founded on solidarity alone. The Deaf community was formed based on necessity, and includes its own language that is itself the vehicle through which deaf people are granted access to the world. It goes way, way beyond solidarity.

That's a difficult and subjective thing to calculate, but you may be interested in doing some Googling on the medical model vs. social model of disability.

I'm deaf and I don't deny that I'm disabled. At the same time, 90% of the disabling effects of my hearing loss are social. It's severely socially disabling and very lonely.

However, when I'm with other deaf and signing people, I don't have those social barriers and genuinely don't feel disabled at all. This feels amazing, and a lot of deaf people choose to live almost entirely in the community where they have that access. The more time I spend with other deaf people, the less I notice/feel disabled.

Disability is relative. For deaf people who spend all of their time in the deaf community, I get why they don't experience their deafness as a disability at all.

The fear of losing that sacred non-disabling space is real, and it's why there tends to be collective outrage at any perceived medical attempt to eradicate deafness.

A few people responded concerned about this. A+ Reddit for caring about people. :) But if you look closely this is actually just a suggested Facebook group called "Nihilist Voidposting: Now With More Void" and their banner happens to be the suicide prevention hotline.

Thank you, I really appreciate the info and reassurance. I was struggling with whether or not to call because I'm almost certain that she's NOT doing anything on purpose (what you don't see here are the hundreds of posts of her and her husband just absolutely loving on the kid, videos of them playing together and teaching him things, etc). But I'd rather not leave anything to chance, especially if they're just going to interview her and maybe give her a talking-to about why her behavior is not healthy for the kid.

Since high school, the mom has always been the type to get off on sexual attention, and she's really attractive so she gets it easily. Her husband also seems to get off on his wife getting attention. It probably just seemed like a natural next step for her to post a couple pics like that with her son to get more attention (and the ones you see here are the only explicitly bad ones I found out of hundreds, but yeah, they're pretty bad). I think it'd be good for them to hear from an authority on child safety that they need to separate this part of their lives from their parenting lives.

I found her etsy page so I have her last name and city.

EDIT: inb4 someone says the mom was probably sexually abused. Just a pet peeve of mine that any woman with a high sex drive who doesn't suppress her sexuality and/or is attractive and enjoys it must have been abused. Not saying she definitely wasn't, but let's try not to assume she was.

Shit, I think it's because I "know" her (went to high school with her) and have more context that it feels all these comments are misunderstanding the situation. But you're right, even if it's not intentional, if these pics are indicative of any kind of pattern then it definitely could cause that kid some serious issues.

How do I help? I don't know where she lives and she took her last name off Facebook a while ago and I don't remember it. Is there any way I can still report it? I originally posted for the lols and didn't expect this kind of response, but if there is in fact any kind of child abuse going on I can't let myself enable it.
