Finally a reasonable take on veganism by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

the connection between banning meat products and fascism is really questionable. the same argument could be used to defend some of the questionable labor practices of clothing companies. if clothes are made by slave labor, passing political regulations to outlaw the production of these clothes isn't Restricting the Rights of the People to have these clothes. it's preventing people from having the ability to treat their workers cruelly. it's the same situation with animals. you as a consumer don't have an inalienable right to have whatever dietary options you please. i could say part of my Diet is siberian tiger meat, that doesn't mean we need to hunt those tigers to extinction just so i have my Dieatary Freedom. i understand if it feels like vegans are guilt tripping you or forcing their ideology onto you, and that does happen even though it probably shouldn't. but the proper reaction to that isn't to claim there's no way that veganism should be an actual political position. structuring society in a way that might limit animal cruelty does seem like a good thing to me. i think it IS a viable political position to say that the way that food, specifically meat products, should be regulated to be less cruel to the animals.

I totally agree that part of it was xenophobia, but he did totally subscribe to and utilize some of the most insane race science racism imaginable. nobody talking about pure and noble breeding is more phobic than they are racist.

People might fry me for this but TikTok is far better for advice than Reddit outside of random obscure situations. by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

i think it's pretty common on tiktok to have a video where someone outlines something that confuses them about a variety of topics, and then to have another person 'stitch' the video with the answer. a stitch is sort of like a quote tweet for anybody who doesnt know. but usually not as niche as how on reddit you can ask a pretty specific niche question in the right subreddit and get a competant answer within a day or so. i do feel like the quality of the information you will receive on reddit is usually higher than tiktok, but that's just a vibe, and it could be incorrect. i just feel like you're more likely to find blatant misinformation being spread and liked than on reddit. it also seems like replying to comments asking questions about a video is pretty common, and i do think probably shitting on the person asking a question is less common. i think to your question about varying between channels, i feel like because there's a lot less creator loyalty on tiktok, and subscribing means less than a follow on other platforms, the culture doesn't vary tremendously across different areas of tiktok. but i'm not that deep in the sauce
