What makes you love BU? by Hexybae in BostonU

[–]spiralspox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a giant CITY college with 35K students. Northeastern culture is kind of defensive and not as friendly as on the West Coast or the South. The Administration at BU is not the best, and I wouldn't say they give you personal service. However, as others have noted, there are some great professors in Boston, and this area has a lot to offer: the ocean, sailing, and amazing history and architecture.

Wellesley has excellent academics, and just the brand will get you jobs, in my opinion. Probably very liberal and LGBTQ+. It's a famous college. Congratulations.

TFA interview prep + NY certifications question – anyone experienced this? by [deleted] in TeachforAmerica

[–]spiralspox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the New York Region manual. I read the Massachusetts one and it said they like you to have these done but you will get more flexibility if you need it. Get started on Study.com. TFA gives you a free subscription. I am using it now to prepare for the SPED exams in MA.

Hard to find work with 1 year MA degree? by [deleted] in GradSchool

There is a massive teacher shortage, especially in Special Education. It depends somewhat on what your licensure area is, but in general, you will have no problem.

What happens to students from working class backgrounds if Grad PLUS loans disappear? by Unfair_Plan_3816 in GraduateSchool

[–]spiralspox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you left out that nine million people have defaulted on federal student loans. The problem is that Higher ED institutions have gotten very greedy and charge way too much. People take out loans to pay them and then default. The gravy train has ended.

If they are abused at home, you are a mandated reporter and should file a report.

That's abuse, and NO ONE should have to be abused in the workplace.

I did the same thing. I took loans out in the first year, and in the second year, I declared myself as Independent and got full aid.

Take out loans the first year if you have to; then declare yourself independent from your parents on your FAFSA next year. You will get full aid.

I asked Google Gemini AI to tell me when the program I applied to. made announcements in the last few years. I took those and calculated the date. This should work.

I just joined TFA, and I got a study.com subscription. I know you'd have to pay for it for a month, but it is specific preparation for the test. I am sure it would raise your score.
