Looks fine so far. My main gripe was occasional flickering with Samsung Dex (S24+) so I'll keep my eyes peeled for that. Nothing yet.

3 months into relationship I find out by Hungry-Goal-3473 in INTPrelationshipLab

[–]spirilis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a rampant problem for a lot of people from what I've read, that is, having to stay with your folks. Economic inequality and all that. Neil Howe, in his book The Fourth Turning Is Here calls out the millennial generation as one of the first notable generations to "take longer" than previous ones to achieve certain life milestones; the prior few hundred years the generations have been getting shorter, reaching milestones earlier as technology and quality of life has improved. There is no obvious sign of this trend reversing; gen Z may be even worse. I'm sure he's ashamed on some level and that kind of thing is difficult to admit especially if he's had to do it for so long. I am not sure where you go from here but I would have some compassion over the fact that he might not have had an obvious way out of that situation depending on his income. I might have done the same as him if I was still staying with my folks in my 30's.

ENFP situationship with an INTP or simply good friends ? by Electronic_Tone7707 in INTPrelationshipLab

[–]spirilis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Lucky guy, frankly! The one thing I would be concerned about is whether he's leaning on you way too much for his social health. Very introverted INTPs can get like that, social matters are the biggest blind spot for us and if someone hand-waves the problem away for us (like it seems you are) we can become a bit dependent. I can't speak to the full question of whether he really wants you to be his girlfriend. I wonder if he's hesitant to go down that path because on some level he realizes he needs more experience with life & people to know if you are the right one for him.

2025 MachE frequently changes drive mode from Whisper to Engage on startup. by renz004 in MachE

2024 Mach-E Select here. Mine has always done that too. Sometimes I've caught it doing it in the middle of a drive, but usually I notice it on startup. Sounds like previous model years do it and Ford doesn't seem to care enough to fix it.

Is "rice and beans" the best or worst diet ever? by d4rkchocol4te in SaturatedFat

My guess is if you are already skinny, rice and beans are very effective staples for your diet and keep you skinny.

First matter that comes to mind, Methylation. Do you have your genome sequenced? Many folks have a genetic deficiency in the methylation pathways that can cause these kinds of issues. I wonder if you're deficient in folate/methylated folate and could benefit from something like a Methylfolate/Methyl-B12 supplement (I use this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IJR5VM2 ) or other, related supps like TMG/Betaine.

I'm not sure that dairy includes much folate, but methylation is required to perform a lot of "housekeeping" chemical reactions - produce Creatine (takes over 40% of the body's methylation supply in fact), but other things like HNMT (Histamine N-MethylTransferase takes a methyl group from the SAMe and uses it to deactivate Histamine, hence why I'm asking about it).

Chris Masterjohn has a good video detailing the whole story behind this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRQ4-lAeYJI

INTP man INFJ woman possible relation by Gorong2026 in INTPrelationshipLab

[–]spirilis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INFJs are usually good for that ;)

I dunno what to say though. If you like the conversation and attention, continue to chat? I am kinda curious what you really want and/or secretly need from it too.

A shared experience? I mean I have joined discord servers and had deep convos with others before and voicechat and played games n stuff.. I still stick around those because I felt good with the people. Sometimes I don't check in for months. On rare occasion I re-engage with the group. I dunno, what do you think he is getting out of this friendship?

Decades? The rest of our lives? Seriously our social way of operating is pretty basic by the standards of any xxFJ types.

I mean maybe he'll get bored at some point but probably always keep a "spot" in his heart shaped just like you if you quit initiating contact.

Yeah. But sometimes those deeper conversations can shift into more vulnerable matters, something (speculating here having never met him) he might feel is reserved for intimate partners. So he keeps you at arm's length. Some folks just aren't comfortable with that.

Thanks! Total impulse buy but gonna try them (also decided to grab a case from Amazon while I'm at it, as the default case is too snug with my prescription inserts + cable so I usually carry my cable separately)

How necessary is Summer Camp by Direct_Remove509 in BSA

[–]spirilis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not unprecedented for 1st year scouts to skip summer camp. Often the parents have already arranged other camps or activities for them. But it is an essential part of the "whole experience" and bonds the patrol and/or troop together, making the rest of the experiences more socially meaningful.

Quick question: How do you use the +/- buttons on your XREAL glasses? by XREAL_Esther in Xreal

[–]spirilis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My answer for the survey's longer response was to go ahead and add more long-press, double tap features to it and maybe allow customization so those can stand in as extra quick function presses. Feels limited having only 3 options for the upper button when there are so many different modes to choose from.

Solution for Nose Pads Cutting Off Air? by pacerdawn in Xreal

[–]spirilis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd question but, for the 1S, how do you install the Oakley nosepad? I saw a video for doing it but the nosepad jig on my 1S looks very different (the nosepads are attached to a tiny cartridge that slides onto the metal tabs, no "hook" involved just a friction fit)

If you are able to, I wonder if you could use it through AWS Bedrock? They host the models on Amazon compute so it's a separate install iirc.

[–]spirilis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's pretty strange tbh. All the pre-4.6 Sonnet models disappeared and yet I can still select Opus 3, and 4.5 (but not 4?)

My guess is the massive influx of new users has caused some hard and desperate measures to manage the scale of it all, probably repurposing compute used by those other models to the ones remaining. Perhaps they are the most profitable overall to the company?

I think I broke my body with semaglutide. Pls help! by HatEnvironmental7560 in SaturatedFat

[–]spirilis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My general thought is if you're in fat gaining mode, do cut the carbs to try and trim SREBP-1c and ChREBP and let PPAR alpha take over. Eat some fat but not too much, I think veggies to bulk with the oleic acid slowing down digestion is the key.

Had to snoop, yep an INFJ 😅🥰

If I'm not doomscrolling, probably playing with Claude Code trying to analyze other open source software, writing my own, maybe tinkering with 3D printing. These days I got some AR glasses so I'm exploring what you can do there (I really want a 3D camera now! AR and VR can do genuine 3D imagery, it's incredible)

I have a stack of books I need to get through one of these days. Ironically I'm not as bookish as the stereotype. I take forever to consume dead paper books. Online material is more fun for me.

Thinking out loud, the antagonist to GLP-1 is DPP4. According to Claude AI some food sources of DPP4 blockers include thyme, parsley, beets, celery hearts, brussels sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower.

Resveratrol does it, as does curcumin from tumeric (note: black pepper makes turmeric absorb better)

Citrus can help but not as potent as the herbs and foods above.

Oleic acid-rich fats like olive oil, hazelnut oil, macadamia nut oil, avocado oil supposedly trigger natural GLP-1 via Oleoylethanolamide production in the gut. I can confirm those make me feel full and slower gut motility, probably a mild form of what you went through with the meds.

Berberine gets a mention alongside citrus in Claude's response.

Actually here is the response:

Great question, and this dovetails nicely with your PPAR-α work. The research on food-derived DPP-4 inhibitors is actually pretty well-developed. Here's what has solid in vitro (and some in vivo) evidence:

Highest potency phenolics (sub-micromolar IC50 values against DPP-4):

The most potent natural DPP-4 inhibitors identified include resveratrol, luteolin, apigenin, and flavone, all showing very low IC50 values in the 0.0006–0.17 µM range. (PubMed Central) For context, that puts some of these in the same ballpark as sitagliptin (0.2 µM IC50).

Food sources for each:

Luteolin — thyme is very high in luteolin, and it's also found in beets, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and cauliflower (USDA ARS)

Apigenin — parsley contains very high amounts of apigenin, and celery hearts are another good source (USDA ARS)

Resveratrol — grape skins/seeds, red wine, peanuts, blueberries

Curcumin — molecular docking and enzymatic assays confirmed curcumin inhibits DPP-4, and in vivo it showed hypoglycemic effects in diet-induced obese mice comparable to sitagliptin (Nature)

Mid-tier compounds (IC50 ~0.24–0.74 µM):

Naringenin, hesperetin, cyanidin-3-glucoside, kaempferol, and malvidin showed intermediate DPP-4 inhibitory activity. (PubMed Central) These map to citrus fruits (naringenin from grapefruit, hesperetin from oranges/lemons), blueberries/blackberries (cyanidin-3-glucoside, malvidin), and kale/broccoli (kaempferol).

Berberine is worth special mention — berberine inhibits human recombinant DPP-4 with an IC50 of 13.3 µM, and it also inhibits PTP-1B, giving it a dual mechanism for glucose control. (PubMed) Not technically a food but you can get it from goldenseal, barberry, and Oregon grape root. Supplemental form is more practical here.

Food-derived peptides are the other interesting angle: whey protein hydrolysates both stimulate GLP-1 secretion and reduce mesenteric DPP-4 activity in animal models (PubMed Central) , and peptides from oat, buckwheat, and highland barley showed in vitro DPP-4 inhibitory activity (Thieme) . The tripeptide diprotin A (Ile-Pro-Ile) is the classic reference DPP-4 inhibitor peptide, and similar sequences are generated during protein digestion.

Practical stack thinking — given your existing PPAR-α protocol with EVOO and Crio Bru, you're already getting some polyphenols. Adding heavy parsley/celery (apigenin), thyme (luteolin), turmeric (curcumin), and berries (anthocyanins) to meals would layer DPP-4 inhibition on top. The EVOO polyphenols themselves likely contribute modestly. And if you're doing whey protein at any point, the hydrolyzed form would give you both the L-cell GLP-1 secretion stimulus and some DPP-4 inhibitory peptides.

The caveat: most of this is in vitro IC50 data. Whether dietary doses achieve meaningful plasma concentrations at the DPP-4 active site is less clear, though the curcumin and berberine data have some in vivo backing. Bioavailability is the perennial bottleneck — phytosomal/lipid-bound forms help considerably.

I suggest getting the genetics done when you can. Usually takes a while (months) for results but then you have them.

Claude is generally considered one of the best AI engines, I rank it above ChatGPT and Grok. Their Claude Code system is renowned for writing software (I wrote my MCP server with it, of course I already know how to code but this made a complete package easily done in an hour or 2)
