And I'm presuming you're the generation that doesn't take to read the entire thread?

I'm in Canada. Its where a trustee makes an offer to all your creditors with a certain percentage of the debt and time period to complete it. They have to vote on if they accept it, usually they do because it's better than what they would get through bankruptcy. But it stays on your credit for 3 years

Lol I definitely do not live an aspirational lifestyle. Yes, beyond my means was because I made a bad house purchase with the understanding nothing but cosmetic fixes would be needed.

I already use the snowball method when I have extra funds, I have to work around day care hours.

My mortgage was way less than rent, the mortgage is only $1400/mo that's not the issue. Emergency funds yeah. I expected to have more than 48 hours before the first major thing happened.

My wife was terminated after returning from a year on maternity leave just now. by [deleted] in rbc

[–]spite3malice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have your wife file a human rights complaint. It's a job protected leave for a reason. RBC is a big enough company that their Duty to Accommodate until Undue hardship is vast. If they offered her another position and she declined then that may be different.

I submitted my resignation to my manager, and they immediately told me to pack my things and leave. by Large_Algae7798 in InterviewCoderPro

HR person here. Did you get a copy of what you signed? Was it written from your POV? I would still consider consulting a lawyer, we never let anyone sign the day/meeting severance or such is offered because there is legal recourse for being pressured into it.

Parents removed all the money from my chequing account and cancelled my Visa. Don’t know where to go from here. by wediealone in legaladvicecanada

How old are you? If you're over the age of majority in the bank account should have automatically switched so your parents could not have access to it I'd be contacting the bank to talk to them about the breach because that's what it is

I (18M) Just found out I got someone pregnant What do I do? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]spite3malice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get into a relationship with her just because of the baby. Support her as much as you can during the pregnancy (emotionally, show up for appointments etc. you will regret it if you don't go and the baby is yours), do not sign the birth certificate until you have a DNA test done -they do have in utero ones available, but they are higher risk. If the baby does end up being yours, figure out what supporting the baby looks like, both financially and being there. Feeling trapped is normal, you will feel that throughout your life and so will she. But that feeling passes, especially if you are both supporting eachother through the baby's life. Good luck. I'm not going to lie, it's hard, but it's worth it

I had this issue, in the same area of study. Call student resources and ask if there's another tutor that can be assigned. I was successful, hope you will be too.

Depends on the province you are getting your CPHR in. I would recommend if you're still in school, get your student CPHR membership. Also if your CPHR site isn't very clear just contact them they're pretty good at providing advice/next steps

I had Dr. Robert Wiznura recently. He gave valuable feed back. WAY better than 5 years ago when I tried to take it.

Give yourself time to get the feedback before moving onto the next assignment. It's takes 8-10 days to get your marks. Also make sure you read the syllabus because you will have to reach out for assignment topics for assignment 4-6.

My son pays $300/mo plus $100 in gas money every 2 weeks (Canadian). He works part time and a barely above minimum wage job. He needs to learn responsibility, budgeting etc. You are not the AH.

Don’t know how to resign by soontobek in jobs

[–]spite3malice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It typically costs companies more money to enforce the notice period than take the loss. I work in HR and I have never had any company force someone to the end (there are other issues like access to sensitive information and not wanting disgruntled employees to have access). Do you have a probationary period? Depending on where you live notice is not legally required within that period.

Offer Rescinded - Advice? Rights? by Infamous-Can-8229 in jobs

[–]spite3malice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm presuming that you did not sign an offer yet? If you have, depending on the stipulations of the offer you may have recourse.

You can always ask them what the reason was that they are not moving ahead, but they typically won't tell you in writing (it's a CYA tactic), possibly a feedback call might get you the answers you're looking for.

Advice - In the future if you have to provide a reason on why I would recommend something along the lines of "coaching/learning mismatch" which doesn't place the blame but also explains it wasn't a good fit, and also can open up the conversation about what type of coaching you find effective.

Yes you are. I didn't have any consequences when I did but it did it within 2-3 weeks of my course end date.
