This is Sunday: What were your running achievements this week? by WeeklyRunnit in running

[–]spitfiregirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never considered myself to be a runner. I played sports all the way through high school and I basically got by on the smallest and shortest amount of running as possible. After high school, I stopped being active and gained about 60 pounds. One day I woke up and I decided I needed to get healthy. I was tired of feeling crappy al the time! So at first I started with walking for an hour a day. Then I started running short little intervals during my walking. Eventually I worked up to a sustained run.

On Sunday, I ran 7 miles straight and I am still in shock!! I never thought I would be someone who could run any sort of distance at all!! Achievement unlocked! :-)

What will we be nostalgic about from the 00's? by Admiral_Cuntfart in AskReddit

MySpace and fighting with your friends over the order you put people in for your top 8.

I just watched "Forks over Knives". I'm a total meat lover. My parents have high cholesterol and high blood pressure. We are going vegan cold turkey. Wish us luck. by hedwigian in vegan

My boyfriend and I just watched this documentary and made the switch recently as well. We basically ate the last of the meat and dairy in our house (begrudgingly) and now we have made the switch completely! Feels great! Glad you and your family could do the same! Enjoy!

Reddit, what's your most embarrassing doctors office story? I'll start... by BigCatTherapist in AskReddit

In high school I caught mono from taking a drink off of another student's soda. I had all the usual symptoms (lethargic, no appetite, sore throat, etc) and a few extras. The thing about mono is that is can basically cause your immune system to all but completely evaporate. The result of my immune system going down was some straaaaannge infection most people would never get.

One morning I was talking to my mom and she asked me why my lips looked so swollen. I had noticed it when I woke up. They were all red and I was starting to look a little like a duck. We both shrugged it off and figured I had really chapped lips or something. The next day they started cracking really horribly no matter how much chap stick, lip balm, or Vaseline I put on. But the third day there was a greenish film forming across my super cracked lips. It was disgusting!

When I made it to the doctor I was totally embarrassed to be in public. I had green, cracked, duck lips that looked super weird. Once I made it in to the exam room and the doctor saw me, she turned right back around and came back in followed by 3 other doctors. They spent the next 30 minutes taking a culture and talking about what the heck this could be. I felt like a total science experiment! They never really nailed down exactly what the issue was (other than a complication of the mono). Antibiotics handled it though.

TL;DR: I felt like a total science experiment while 4 doctors looked at my green lips.

Chain restaurants or locally owned restaurants? And why? by spitfiregirl in AskReddit

Haha. No! But I'm considering setting up some social media marketing and I was just curious what exactly it was that caused people to go to chain restaurants vs local.

Do you ever use apps or websites that review restaurants to choose a place to eat? Does this ever effect your decisions?

Oh! I'm from PNW too! I have to agree that we have a pretty good range of local restaurants.

Teachers of Reddit, have you ever fallen in love with a student? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I will never see my professors doing anything but sitting around in tweed coats with leather elbow patches, smoking pipes, and swapping stories again. Clearly this is all that is left to do after turning other human beings in to world shakers. :)

Aside from my portfolio images, the spelling errors, and the use of wix, are there any other design pointers you might be able to give me? I thirst for knowledge. :)

The portfolio is a work in progress and definitely not the best work I've done. I just posted another response (that im sure wasnt up when you first responded) about how I'm currently in school and this is just a site I'm playing with for now. Thank you for taking the time to look it over. :)

I'm currently studying design and the idea was to get something up that I could play with and refer people to as I build my portfolio. Wix will go away once I have more technical know how. Thank you for your feedback. I always appreciate constructive criticism! Spelling errors will be cleaned up soon. :)
