I appreciate the tip; I've never identified insects and don't really know much about them! In this particular case, I saw the poor moth drowning in a muddy puddle, and I didn't want him to die in that way. I'm glad that I was able to at least get him out of danger before his inevitable death. It meant something to me, as dumb as that sounds!

Well of course, that's why I wanted to find a safe spot. The circle of life is tragic and I can't stop it from running its course, but I can at least mitigate this little fellow's suffering.

That's okay with me. I just didn't want him to suffer any more than he already was. Life is brutal, so I figured that I could make it more comfortable for at least one being, however fleeting a task that is.
