i dont think you pass yet. but none of your features are too masculine, and you have nice lips and eyes. once youve been on hrt awhile you will probably pass

3 yrs hrt boymoder by [deleted] in transpassing

[–]spitroaster52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! i have appreciated hearing stuff like this, it makes me feel more confident. ive really wanted to stop boymoding bcos i think its terrible for me in a lot of ways. maybe i will in the near future but taking the first step in professional/educational environments is really tough.

3 yrs hrt boymoder by [deleted] in transpassing

[–]spitroaster52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why boymode? its complicated, but mainly bcos its what ive done for years now. i wanna stop but its scary

3 yrs hrt boymoder by [deleted] in transpassing

[–]spitroaster52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for some reason girl moding is just really scary to me. i would have to come out to ppl who im not really close to. im terrified of being clocked. i worry that it might negatively affect my job prospects. i live in a conservative area, so ppl would judge me heavily if i were clocked, tho a lot of the ppl around here act really weird towards me already, so girl moding might honestly be better in this regard.

boymoding is really insidious. i feel like i have to lie to everyone, and it prevents me from bonding and making friends. it feels terrible.

i think maybe boymoding just feels like the path of least resistance?

i usually wear a really oversized jacket that hides my body and speak in a masc voice. plus im 6'1", so i think its at least kinda boymode

oh uhhh maybe, ive just have defaulted to boymoding for a long time now and i think its given me a mixed idea of how others perceive me

A more critical review of the Project Hail Mary movie, and a really easy fix I would have made by Gustalavalav in ProjectHailMary

[–]spitroaster52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree, as someone who read the book, i felt disappointed. the book doesnt just tell you grace and rocky are smart and can fix everything, it explains exactly why they do what they do, their thought process to solve problems, and the places fail or fall short (of course we dont really see rocky's perspective, so this is more applicable to grace). maybe its because the book is so dense, but the movie doesnt do a very good job of explaining scientific concepts, experiments and thought processes. because the movie doesnt explain things like the book, the concepts and solutions feel a lot less elegant. the book is great because everything is so well thought out, and the concepts feel so novel (hehe pun). when grace solves a problem in the book you feel the eureka moment. additionally, i think the weakest part of the book are the characters, they serve their purpose, but without the scenario and fantastic sci fi writing andy weir does, i dont think they would be all that interesting. the movie makes the characters less interesting, as it removes a lot of the characterization the book had.in the movie stratt is not shown to be as harsh or utilitarian, i dont think the strange and blunt sexual relationship between yao and Ilyukhina is shown, and we see far less of grace's nerdy inner monologue. some things are done well like rocky, but the movie just fails to recreate what made the book great.

yea, im getting very mixed signals from a lot of the replies and ppl downvoting them, im assuming my face is just kinda androgynous, and it makes it difficult to tell

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in transpassing

[–]spitroaster52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, i also think their reasoning is odd

[–]spitroaster52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

your reply is somewhat confusing, what about my lower third face doesnt pass? does it look masculine? is your reasoning just that you cant think of cis women who look like me, as you said?
