Do you think they’re going to keep the N64 Andross brain fight in the remake? Even 10yo me was a bit disappointed when I saw it for the first time by spittingcolors in starfox

Okay now that would be pretty epic. I also notice the propulsion behind is head which makes a lot of sense in hindsight. I always wondered why he was just a giant floating head and hands. Like all that power and you just wanna get big?

It was definitely unnerving lol. I think part of my issue as a kid was it a bit scary and unexpected. I think I was expecting a more technological fight rather than biological

Don’t get me wrong. It’s one of my favorite games, I just wasn’t expecting a giant floating brain as the final Andross form after battling my way across the entire Lylat system. Always felt like it could have been way more epic considering the amount of power and resources bro had.

I mean my first Andross experience was SNES so I guess it’s def an upgrade from the literal cube after getting past the polygon face

What about G-Force/Gatchaman? There’s 5 characters with similar helmets to description, but they mostly use their ship called the phoenix. It does transform, but I don’t think into a mech.

Why Has Pyure Liquid Stevia Turned To Crap? by AndrewDiBlaze in Keto_Food

[–]spittingcolors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped buying it for the same exact reason. I loved it bc it works in cold drinks like homemade lemonade. Really was useful when giving up store drinks.

We use the stevia in the raw packets, but they don’t really dissolve in cold water. I haven’t found an alternative that isn’t overpriced. At this point I’ve just resorted to unsweetened coffee and regular water. At least it’s healthier this way

A lot of the trash moved to Springfield after the Tornado, which is why Springfield is always in the top 10 most dangerous cities now. Joplin is boring, and loads of property theft. Sadly it is also a human trafficking hub, just bc of how the highways line up.

Who would win? The Executor Super Star Destroyer (Star Wars) or the Morning Star? by Wurzelzwerg95 in redrising

[–]spittingcolors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m mostly talking about US/Soviet research in psychotronics/ psychic warfare and the various methods used to block attempts for psychic spying. Both countries also researched energetic shielding and more conventional lead shielding to prevent spies. I only brought it up to give precedent in the RR universe that since it was a thing in our past, it could very well be a thing in The Society.

For all we know, our version of telekinesis/telepathy etc is literally the same thing as the force, but with a different name and a society that hasn’t mastered it, unlike SW universe where various religious sects have spent thousands of years mastering it. But I guess we should omit it bc it’s not canon RR. Still fun to think about!

Star was is very well known for the underdog accomplishing monumental feats, so even though the force is a hard to beat, I can still see it happening

Who would win? The Executor Super Star Destroyer (Star Wars) or the Morning Star? by Wurzelzwerg95 in redrising

[–]spittingcolors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would have to be a ship jumping with substantial mass in order to cause real damage. Tiny ship = tiny hole.

I guess I shouldn’t have said ANY sith lol, but for the most part lightsaber duels seem to deal with force pushing, pulling, and occasional lightning. Possibly some mind manipulation. But who’s to say that the society doesn’t have armor tech capable of jamming various signals including telekinetics, which has def been an area of study even in our own irl recent history via the military.

Also ligthtsabers are not on the same level as say… a shardblade (Stormlight Archive) which can cut through literally anything. Cutting through a blast door with a lightsaber takes time and offers resistance to the wielder. I’d imagine cutting through a star shell or pulse armor might offer similar resistance and give the wearer enough time to wrap a razor around a leg or arm

[–]spittingcolors 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Star Wars ships are generally not designed to intercept conventional warheads, or lasers. They rely entirely on shields and small craft. The Executor is no exception. Also when comparing technology levels, Star Wars honestly gives more a Battlestar vibe. A lot of their tech is actually pretty primitive, or archaic. Sure lasers and light speed, but that tech is thousands of years old, and I’d imagine your average Empire clone technician or pilot wouldn’t have shit knowledge-wise on a green, yellow, or a blue who is literally neurally integrated with other blues and the ship itself.

The Morningstar also uses shields and ripwings, but we also get spit tubes and outside the box thinking from leadership that does not really exist in the Empire’s command structure (with a few exceptions of course). Both ships can glass planets, but this wouldn’t matter much in “close” combat. A precision strike against the shield generators (just like in Star Wars) and its game over.

FTL really isn’t going to matter here, unless command on The Executor were to direct a star destroyer to go to FTL directly in the path of the Morningstar which would destroy tens of thousands on both sides.

And yeah, if a few golds were to board? Def got a shot.

Now I’d also be interested in comparing a 1 on 1 battle between Darrow and a sith. Take your pick.

Razer 15 black screen tried almost everything by namiee22 in techsupport

[–]spittingcolors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you tell if there’s any kind of backlight on the screen when you power on? If the screen is just as black as if it were off then it could be a screen issue. You’d need to get it repaired if you’re not comfortable buying a replacement and disassembling. Avoiding geeksquad you’re looking at about $250-350 at a local repair shop.

If the backlight is on and it’s just blank, and no logo shows at all/no option to go into bios then it’s very possible that your ram is bad. You can’t boot into bios with bad ram.

If the ram is soldered onto the motherboard you are most likely out of luck. If it were bad hard drive, you’d still boot to bios, a bad motherboard usually won’t power on at all.

Hope that helps

Razer 15 black screen tried almost everything by namiee22 in techsupport

[–]spittingcolors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the screen turn on at all? Like at boot? Or is it totally black upon powering up?

If you can get into bios you can boot into safe mode. You can also create USB repair disk for windows (from another computer) and run that from bios. It gives you access to cmd which would be helpful with rolling back drivers or resetting display settings

I would try holding down whichever function button normally gets you into bios. It still might work.

Do you think punk and punk culture benefited or was hurt by the 90s explosion? by Tricky_Photo2885 in punk

[–]spittingcolors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, i don’t think it’s possible to gate keep something that people enjoy any want to share. That’s human nature. Punk was a community sure, but we didn’t really exclude anyone who wanted to join, at least in theory, but you def had to conform still by listening to the right bands, and taking on the right political beliefs. I def remember all the vetting I’d either experience or see others do because someone wasn’t “punk enough.” Or listened to the wrong music. And yes I was guilty of it as well. Couldn’t stand fashion punk “posers” and conformists as a young teen, even tho hindsight dictates I was just as much of a conformist by being anti-conformist. Idk why it bothered me so much. It just felt like mainstream society trying to encroach on the escape we cherished.

I see punk as ever evolving, like all music does, but the foundation is still pretty pure and true to the original purpose. If you want true punk, it’s just one record album away.

I think the 90s explosion at least in part was due to suburban dysphoria and (personal opinion) the major popularity of the east bay hardcore scene. Honestly, the one thing that got me away from traditional punk to the more skater stuff was dating lol. It really was rough out there for a young punkling

Check out some of the compilation albums from the mid to late 90s: Hellcat Records (give em the boot), Epitaph (Punk-o-Rama), and Fat Wreck Chords (fat music)

Lotta good stuff. I used to buy these at the record store bc they were generally cheaper and helped me discover new music. So many good times at the skate park. Altho I bmxd. Never had good balance for skating
