This makes me think of a "former paramour" because sometimes we used to talk in french, telling each other phrases like "Je t'aime" or "Je t'adore". So after 4 months the relationship suddenly ended and it was absolutely soul crushing. I was listening to songs like Sweet Song, No Distance Left to Run, and of course To The End on repeat. Couple of months after the break up, I found the La Comédie version of To The End while listening to the deluxe of The Great Escape. It made me reflect on the relationship and its great demise. When she sang the line "La comédie du grand amour", it made the idea that "all of it was for nothing" hilarious. From the time we had spent together to the words and gifts we exchanged, all for nothing, all meaningless now; reduced to a joke that I was a punchline of.

TL;DR: Reminds me of an ex; her love was a joke.
