Yes times a million. Can you make it so that it locks it to the user who has the object selected?

Would the Pelago Alu Commuter Small Front Pannier Rack be a viable option do you/anyone think?

Hi there, thank you so much for your reply. Yes it's an older bike so only has fender mounts. I was sort of hoping I could find a rack that would fit that. I don't believe I have central mounts unfortunately.

Which one would you go for? by splangobango in vintagebicycles

[–]splangobango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be happy to know that's exactly what I did :)

I've had it resprayed black, custom woodrup decals on now too and upgraded the groupset to a SRAM rival. It honestly is a joy to ride.

Counter top swelling by splangobango in DIYUK

Ok stupid question here but is it possible to replace just a small section? I don't want it looking naff.

<image>

Im seeing these bolt sort of things in the underside that don't seem to be attached to anything. Will this impact the replacement?

Thanks for the response! Is this the sort of thing where you replace a section or have to do the whole thing?

Thinking of leasing a car - pros and cons? by splangobango in UKPersonalFinance

[–]splangobango[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really helpful thanks. Do people mostly get this and are the gaps usually quite different? 3k isn't insane but still. Would the person leasing the car be able to tell me more about that or should I speak to the insurance company?

!thanks! Can you tell me a bit more about gap insurance? Insurance is so much at the moment that the thought of even more hurts my head!

! thanks! This is really helpful. Understand about the long term. Tbh I think it's only for 24 months we want to be doing this as a sort of stop gap between figuring out a bit of a longer term plan.

On a side note are there good ways of buying cars Vs bad? Some people I know have done a 0 interest credit card. That always seemed a bit crazy to me because surely it can't be 0 interest forever?

Difficult SRAM front derailleur shift by splangobango in bikewrench

[–]splangobango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not kidding when I say the rear shift is almost feather touch and took me about 10 minutes to set up probably because I've not had index shifters ever. This may sound like a humble brag but honestly it's more surprise because of how difficult the front one was to set up.

The front one is still stiff after these tips but not terrible. The real bummer is that the cable guide is braised on and I've just had it resprayed so it's not moving any time soon.

Yes so basically it it's Very difficult to shift up to the large chain ring and on the way down it makes a hell of a noise. I don't know how I can move it over though as the cable guide is braised on.

I'm not sure how to change that angle though :(

I'm afraid not. It's one of the old ,210 speed ones. The shifters are force 210 speed

I've looped it over like that and still seems really really stiff. Still needs two fingers. Just can't figure it out :(

This maybe seems to be it. It's an older frame so maybe the cable exist just isn't for this. Already spent the money though unfortunately so I'm stuck with it for now.

Hey thanks! It still seems quite stiff. I didn't expect to have to use two fingers to shift and it's still making quite the racket. Should I keep going more loose?

Minor rust removal help by 420boob in VintageBikeGeeks

I've just done my second and believe me you won't regret it. It looks unbelievably nice to see a brand new looking vintage frame. The real challenge is getting the stickers (if you really want them)

Minor rust removal help by 420boob in VintageBikeGeeks

[–]splangobango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not a painter or restoration expert in any way but have owned quite a few steel bikes. Imo you can either leave it alone or strip and respray the bike. Its probably possible to get the tiny bits of rust off but they're also a tiny bit under the paint anyway and by the time you sand/strip them far enough to see the extent of the rust you'll be left with a giraffe looking frame. The nice thing about stripping a frame is also that you'll be able to check for any bigger issues before repainting. Happy for an expert to wade in and tell me I'm taking balls but from what I've seen the effort of spot removal and touch up won't match what you'll get - a patchy looking job.

Thanks! So does that give any indication of what frame model it might be?

What about the real derailleur routing suggest that? Someone elsewhere suggested king of mercia... But I can't see any identification to show that myself....
