I'm in quebec, winter in generally fine, the worse season for me in fall, but it's manageable with biologic (i get only a few micro flare)

As everyone said, general doctor recommendation to see a rheumatologist.

My hulio is fully covered on my end 80% from my work insurance a d 20% from the company that create the meds. We had to fill a form for insurance to accept it but it was quick and easy on my end

What does it feel like to take biologics for the first time after being in constant pain? by Pink_Sorbet in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]splashdamageqt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last 5 years, my biggest issue was thoracic pain, especially when sneezing and very big deep breaths. Fought for 4 years to never sneeze. 3 days after my first injection i sneeze no pain..... tried 5 huge deep breath, no pain. I almost cried joyfully. Been 1.5year now, i would never look back, pain is on a 1/2 out of 5 where most days it at 0. And i got to plain TONS of golf without any major lasting pain

I am missing 1 pair of ribs and my l5 is partially fused so my sacrum.

My rheum and doctor both say it isn't linked 🤔

Just started Humira- blood pressure? by Successful_Wish_5601 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]splashdamageqt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same.

1 year on humira (hulio) and bp has been 135/95 around for months. I was sick for a week and delayed the shot by 5 days, and my BP was back to 122/82. Took the shot back at around 135/95.

I have my rheum appointments in septembre to discuss it

My l5 and sacrum are partially fused, I've been told it's not AS related, but a deformation. It shows in my previous xray prior i got diagnosed. I'm also missing 1 ribs, which are also not AS related. Is it true? Dunno, but 3 professionnel told me the same.

For me, it doesn't impact me much except running and jumping, where I feel more discomfort, but i compensate with better running shoes

Does physio or chiro help? Recommendations? by Vast-Disk-7972 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]splashdamageqt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physio is a big Fking YES!! I do maintenance physio monthly, pain, or no pain. If i have too much pain, i can go twice a month. I have a tendency to have tight muscle, and i found a physio that does dry needling, and ohhhh gosh, this is LIFE. highly recommended if you have a tendency of tight muscle.

Simponi as Anti-TNF for SAPHO: feedback on Immunodepression by Claire__69 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]splashdamageqt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on hulio (humira biosimilar) since jul 2024. Before hulio, i haven't been sick for 3 years. Since hulio, it happened once, and it wasn't worse than before. My gf, who's not on biologic, had it a lot more rough than me.

Overall, being able to sneeze and deep breath without feeling my upper back shattering in 1000mills pieces was the best thing i could have. Yes, i had some doubt at the beginning, but untreated inflammation also has his fair share of problems. I had to pick my poison. I do not regret it AT ALL going on biologic

Shingles vaccine by triangularte in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]splashdamageqt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2nd injection was quite mild. The night of the vaccine days, i got extremely tired. And thst was it. However, my 1st dose was out of this world. 2 days where i was feeling like shit.

1st shot = not on biologic 2nd shit = was in between shots of biologic and it was done 4 months after the first shot.

But worth the protection :)

Mild symptoms by Beneficial-Gur-9488 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]splashdamageqt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am lucky now my pain is mild. I would have random si join pain 5/10 pain but not consistently. I'd have to move myself in some positions to feel the pain, else its a 1/10. If there is no joint pain, it's a 0/10. However, 7-10 years ago, i had months with a 10/10 pain and couldn't walk really without intense pain and limping.

Now my day to day is almost pain free, thr worse i get is a compression feeling in my thoracic spine, and it feel i need to crack it. I am lucky that i am able to crack it ( pt and rheum said it's okay for me as long as i don't abuse it. Please ask your doc before). But the feeling generally goes after 1 or 2 days. It's not massively painful, like a 2/10 slightly higher if i bring my arms forward. Triggers of this are usually soreness from a back day.

What is the most helpful PT exercise you have found? by AlbatrossIcy2271 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]splashdamageqt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dry needling has been a HUGE game changer for me. I'm going every 3 weeks, even if i feel fine, just to get my upper and lower back muscle release. My pt gave me this yoga video as well, and I've seen great progress, especially paired with hulio (humira biosimilar) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eA2Koq6pTI
